Question: Adwords Image Add Sizes..

Hey, just a quick question...

Apparently a google image add has to be 50 kb or less in size.

I was able to upload a 72 kb JPEG file (yet to be approved), but it didn't let me upload one that was a couple of MB.

Are the very strict about the whole 50 kb thing?

Also, what's a good way to reduce file size without loosing too much quality?

Large images are a waste of bandwidth so they won't do it for you.

My preference is the save for web tool in Photoshop ... use the slider to get the exact file size you want.

  Thanks for the reply. I just worked it out. The slider on photoshop is crap and inaccurate - it'll show one size then once you've saved it, it's way larger! I realised that when you save as JPEG on photoshop, it saves as 'Photoshop JPEG' format. But if you save as photoshop JPEG format first (will usually be way more than 50kb at a descent quality), then open this file with Paintbrush, then 'Save As JPEG', it'll save as original jpeg, which has excellent quality and is easily less than 50 kb.

  you can use free software like GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program
  or Paint.NET - Free Software for Digital Photo Editing to fix the images.
  
  try saving the jpg at about 80% quality
