Just got this email:

Dear Publisher,

Yahoo! continuously evaluates and prioritizes our products and services, in alignment with business goals and our continued commitment to deliver the best consumer and advertiser experiences. After conducting an extensive review of the Yahoo! Publisher Network beta program, we have decided to close the program effective April 30, 2010. We expect to deliver final publisher payments for the month ending April 30, 2010 to publishers no later than May 31, 2010. All publishers eligible for 1099s for the 2010 tax year will have those mailed by January 31, 2011.

Because our content will no longer be delivered to your ad unit spaces after April 30, 2010, we recommend removing all YPN ad code from your pages by that date.

For the opportunity to continue earning revenue, we suggest using Chitika, a leading advertising network that syndicates Yahoo! Content Match and Sponsored Search ads. Chitika has set up a special process for YPNO beta publishers to participate in its platform. Click here for more information.

We thank you for your participation in the Yahoo! Publisher Network beta. If you have any questions regarding this announcement, please contact our Support Team at (866) 785-2636, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PDT.
Sincerely,

Your Partners at Yahoo!
Looks like Google Adsense is the only choice for contextual ads now. Chitika didn't convert very well for me in the past.

One more reason to use php includes on pages. To do quick link swap-outs when necessary. Or use a cms.

What timing! I was just going to swap out Yahoo for Chitika anyway.
I'm doing much better with Chitika than Yahoo on my sites.

You can also try to get in on the Microsoft Publisher beta.

    there's goes another Google-alternative.

I saw Bidvertiser and Adbrite were mention above. Any inputs on which one I should try first (assuming I have limited time and can only choose to work on one first)?

I second that! I would love for other Warriors to chime in on their experiences with Bidvertiser in particular.

Yeah but weren't they planning on merging this with Microsoft's ad platform anyway? I thought that was the plan for them to work together so they could make an attempt at taking some marketshare away from Google.

I'm sure adbrite, bidvertiser, etc. are nice,
but saying that are actual replacements for adsense is
like saying a Yugo was an alternative to a BMW.

Yeah, a Yugo could be a replacement for a BMW, but...

I tried adsense, chitika, bidvertiser and abrite. Adsense is the best! Could not find any google adsense alternative.

I would assume they are just closing because of the merge with Microsoft?

It really sucks that Yahoo is closing down. Competition drives this world and we can't let the BIG guys walk over everyone. I hope that one day there will be a viable competitor for Google or else who knows what will happen...

Correct, but they will be merging with Microsoft's system within a year.
