Which Is The Better Way To Do Keyword Research?

Method 1:

Find a keyword with a lot of searches and minimal search results.

Method 2:

Find a keyword with a lot of searches but it doesn't matter about how many search results there are as long as the first 15 websites have a PR 2 or lower and limited backlinks?

So which method works better?

I've covered this in the FAQ ...

The number of search results don't matter. Your competition is top ten sites listed on page one.

Aim to compete with 1,000,000,000 PR0 sites with no backlinks and untargeted pages rather than 10 PR9 sites with 1,000s of backlinks and well SEO'd pages.

Thanks for that, what about if like 8 of the top 10 are PR 9 sites and 2 are PR 0, still worth it?
