Getting A Wordpress Category Page Ranked

Hey, I want to get a wordpress category page ranked. I'm not exactly sure how to do this. I have several backlinks pointing to my site (my site is indexed already), but the category page isn't ranking in the top 100 at all for a fairly easy keyword. The category page I want to get ranked is not getting indexed though, and I'm not sure how to optimize it. Help please!

On a side note, when creating categories, out of these two examples, which one is more optimal:

videogames/actionvideogames/actionadventurevideogames?

or

videogames/action/actionadventure?

If it's not indexed then it can't rank.

Check any SEO and Sitemap plugins you might be using. They could be blocking your category pages from being indexed.

After that, dump a bunch of backlinks pointed at your category page.

I'm only using all in one seo right now, and I unchecked the "noindex category pages" option.

Well buddy you can rank the wordpress category page for sure but it has many problems. Google may consider it as duplicate content. Because of this many webmasters hide the category links from search enginges..

That should do the trick then.

It's not working though. It's been 2-3 days since I've done that, and there's backlinks pointing to it. Sub-category pages have gotten indexed, but not my parent category page.

Hm, okay, I'll be sure to try that.
