Bad Articles - can they really generate traffic?

I was watching this video on internet marketing and I was taken aback when the speaker actually mentioned that even bad articles are okay to post because it can still generate traffic through back links. I'm a bit confused because I myself don't want to read badly written articles, worst are grammatically incorrect ones. :confused:

Please advise.

    I think what the speaker means is that bad articles still give you a backlink, which in tern helps your SE rankings. Obviously, the higher you rank the more traffic you should get. The articles them selfs wont get you much traffic, as no one will read all the way down to the resourse box that contains the link back to your site.

    However, some article directories allow links in the article body. So maybe you could post a junk article with a link at the top, that say's something like...

    You could do this to get the click though to your site and stop people reading the article.

    Bad article can give you traffic, the trick is -

    1. Compelling article title, the promise is so good until the reader must click your link to see what's behind.
    2. Your article must be very short, like 250 to 300 words.

    Many people will not bother to read your article, but they will click your link if your title and call to action is very good.

      Yeah, well said. Look at the crappy stuff on EZA.
      No content, just short and full of fluff.

      I can't say I would publish one of those on my own sites,
      however. That's why I don't use EZA anymore. I am
      one who likes to put a lot of effort in, and EZA seems geared
      for more laziness.

    EZA still a great way to tap into tons of traffic, the key is this -

    Find keyword with low competition enough to rank without backlinks!

    Think about it, if I can find 10 keywords with over 500 views daily, 10 X 500 = 5,000 views daily! 20% click-through would be 1,000 qualified visitors to your site!!

    I know these kind of keywords is hard to find, but not impossible!

    yes... kkchoon is saying.. right...

    for me.. i just get a article.. and short it.. around 300words.. then i rewrite it and add some call to action.. to my website.. and get alot traffic from my articles.

      Why give away your content to other sites so they can benefit from any inbound link juice?

      Always post the unique content on your own site and have that content bookmarked. Then, it is you who will benefit from the direct links.

      Otherwise, it's a little like selling the family silver!

    Choon - I think that would be tough to do. From EZA, a CTR of 20% would be almost impossible unless you are writing about a popular subject (and then you would have to compete with other articles as well). I say your doing good if your getting 12 to 15%. I know I'm being picky...

    But - still - I like your formula. And I agree - the KWs would be very hard to find.
