According to Google keyword tool, keyword is getting 12000+ searches per month.

My site ranks the following for this specific keyword (according to traffic travis)

Google: position 9
Yahoo: position 2
Altavista: position 3

What kind of traffic should I expect to see?

Thanks for your help.

What do you mean by this? Do you mean if your traffic will be organic or not or what? I cannot quite understand the question...

Yes, what kind of organic traffic should I expect to see usually since keyword is getting 12000 searches per month.Like the best and worst case scenario from your experiences.

In Google, you'll be looking at about 2-3% of the original traffic number. Not sure about the other SE.

Probably between 5 and 10% of that volume would be a good estimate in my experience. I would say around 900 visitors per month for 12000 visitors for the lower half of Google's top 10, assuming of course those numbers were either phrase or exact match that is. If your estimates are broad match then you need to re-evaluate.

As for Yahoo then divide that visitor count by 3 roughly and Altavista divide that by 1,000,000.. Just kidding, I don't know about altavista to be honest but minimal I would say.

2-3% as the third poster said. This is again based on the AOL leaked data, not from the gospels of Google (which don't exists again).

Thank you for your replies. For some reason I am not getting any traffic at all for this keyword.I checked multiple datacenters to make sure I rank at position 9 for this particular keyword.

Could this be what you are asking. I saw this table from someone's blog on what kind of traffic is expected for Googles first page positions:

      # 1 gets 42 % of all clicks
      # 2 11
      # 3 8
      # 4 6
      # 5 4
      # 6 below 4

      Hope it helps
