Don't quite get what you're asking here but if there is any advantage I would say it's probably the ease of use of a blog as far as adding content and what not.

If I understand your question when you say blog vs site you are saying blog format (revers chronological format, comments and the like) vs a traditionally structured site. As others have said, blogs are a type of site.

All depends on your intent. If you want to build an information site. Then a site is better than a blog. However, you can use a blogging cms such as wordpress and make it into a traditional site format using categories and categorizing posts.

Check your niche out on google. Are the top 10 sites blog formatted or traditional site formatted, act accordingly.

Yes your question seems a bit confusing here. But still I can tell you that adding informative content related to your site in your blog regularly can help the visitors to know about your site. Give your visitors some general info that seems pretty good and not totally promotional. At the end of your posting somewhere you can tell about your site. But try to give your visitors something valuable and interesting. This way you can generate traffic to your site.

Good comment, but I think google does love the blogs. In addition, the rss feature sure allows for additional ranking power if used well. There are a lot of additional reasons, but overall it depends on the niche.

          Hello everyone
I am sorry it appeared vague. I have a website, Wedding Speeches-My Amazing Wedding Speeches - Home
I have added articles to the website, but was wondering if it would be more beneficial to have these articles on a blog compared to my website.

How about if you could somehow replicate your contents by creating simple 300-500 word articles related on your niche and other articles that you have posted in your wedding website. From those keywords that you use, make sure you set hyperlinks to have them linking back to your website. Have those contents distributed to highly recognized Web 2.0 networks such as Squidoo, Hubpages or Blogger then get them linking back to each other. That way, you're leveraging the traffic going from one of your contents to the other then to your homepage.

I think he means basic html websites. A blog is definitely the better of the two.

Blogs can be automatic, there are thousands of great plugins, search engines love them and they're easy to update with new content.

I believ very much in blogs. They are simple to run, have tons of widgets and plugins that you can use and they are great for networking.

Also, with the amount of free templates out there you could have a fantastic looking site up in no time

From my (short) experience, blogs are better as:

    1. They have higher SERPs
    2. They have higher crawlings
    3. They are flexible.
    4. Mostly, they are free.

One advantage to having a "dynamic" blog over just a "static" website for lack of better terms is the fact that owning a blog in itself encourages you to update your content regularly. For that reason, SE's will visit it more regularly and promote it more often as some have already pointed out. If it is just a static website, you will have to have great SEO in place, because it will be competing with blogs.

HTML has no inherent weakness to Blogs no matter what you read here or otherwise. There is absolutely ZERO evidence that Google likes wordpress more than a properly designed and optimized web (HTML) page - ZERO.

Where Wordpress has the edge for those who don'tknow both SEO and HTML is that it makes optimizing easier with plugins where with a straight HTML page you need to know where your keywords should go and how your navigation and other SEO items shoudl be setup.

That and Wordpreass is the easiest way to create link magnets that have people linking back to you naturally and in droves.

Agree with what you are saying, but can you elaborate on this point, I'm not sure what you mean.

I'd go Wordpress every time. You can use a theme to make your site look like a blog or a traditional website. It's easy to use, easy to keep updated and you have access to more plugins that you could imagine to help you rank, optimise for SEO, attract traffic etc.

I don't think there are preferences.

It all comes down to what people use more often.

Unique content on either should be fine. Google seems to crawl blogs more often because they are known for updating content more frequently, but if you have a sitemap and seo programs on your website, than I would say its about even.

If you are reasonably competent at HTML, it would be better to do a static HTML site by hand on Notepad, Coffee Cup or the like. That way you know exactly whats' going on with every aspect of your site.

With Wordpress, it installs so many directories, pages, database, etc it'll take a while to figure out how the whole website page structures are operating.

I am assuming if something goes wrong it'll be much easier to figure out the problem if you know the code inside out.

As for things which Wordpress provides like RSS, you can get them for a static HTML pages too.

With Wordpress it takes time to figure out how the software, plugins, etc work. That itself can take time.

And with HTML, you have the ultimate flexibility to choose how the design of your site will be.
