Basic Web 2.0 Concept

I apologize for the lack of controversy in this post. It's actually just a straightforward, boring question about using Web 2.0 sites to drive traffic. I asked it in a thread below, but am sure it will soon be buried:

Just wanting to know if I am understanding this idea. Let's say I'm focusing on the keyword "Rat Soup Recipes". I have a website ... ratsouprecipes.com ... my main website.

I then pick out about 5 web 2.0 sites to create content related to Rat Soup Recipes. Let's say, Squidoo, Hubpages, Wetpaint, Gather and MSN Spaces.

Within the content, I create a link from my Squidoo site to my Hubpages site, from Hubpages to WetPaint, from Wetpaint to Gather, Gather to MSN and MSN to Squidoo. I also create a link from each of these sites to ratsouprecipes.com.

Is this the basic idea?

Thanks.

Indeed. And if you buy my eBook for $197 you too will be an ironic comedy genius. All newbies MUST read this system or abandon all hope! I'm already earning thousands every day from this method* (*using patented Enron accounting practices)...

      But seriously...

I'm in analyzer mode right now, and see some interesting mathematical possibilities. Would anyone care to expand on the idea behind the link wheel? My rudimentary understanding is that you are manually building links from high PR sites back to your main site (good for Google power). What I'm not quite understanding is this:

Assume two of my feeders are a Squidoo lens and a HubPages site. I can see how a link from either of these to my main site would add a nice backlink ... with good relative content. But... how does a link from my Squidoo lens to my HubPages site add value here?

      Thanks.

That's a good approximation. With those type of Web 2.0 sites (all high quality) you could have a link going back to your money site as well as a link going to the next site in the wheel.

    Best of luck!

Sorry to keep beating this dead horse... tough to keep a topic alive unless it has a little spice to it, which this does not.

Regarding the link wheel idea. I've not read any explanation of the link wheel idea that satisfactorily explains the purpose of the one-way links from one Web2.0 property to another (the wheel part). The link from the Web2.0 property to the Money site is obvious (the spokes).

Anyone care to take a shot?

    Thanks.
