using ppc to price your product

Hi all,

Just wanted to ask peoples opinion on how to breakeven/profit when using adwords.

Basically if i were to have a product that cost £20 then the most i could pay for my cpc would be 20p if i work on a 1% conversion. However would this then mean that i would not be on first page of search engine if shown at all?

The other option would be to look at what the cost of the cpc would be for most expensive keyword and then base the cost of my product on this. However if i was doing affiliate marketing i would not be able to change the cost of product.

How would you work around this?

Thank you for your replies in advance

I'm neither at the moment im just trying to work out how people determine how much to pay per click when using adwords to ensure they profit or at least breakeven. Because like i said in previous example if i am only making £20 on product i can only really pay a maximum of 20p per click but if that is not enough to show on first page of Google how do you do it? Do you make a loss until your quality score brings your cpc down to 20p or is there a more logical way?

Also how would you do this for multiple keywords if the minimum cpc is different for each one?

in basic terms you have the right thinking happening, just need to dig a little deeper on those thoughts and you should be good.
