When to start Adsense?

The only day you should not use adsense was yesterday.

What would your reasons for waiting be?

If you opened a store in a mall, how long would you wait
before you allowed paying customers in?

Thanks for responding Paul. Your post made me laugh LOL

I've heard different things (which is usually the case and drives me crazy) like... if you wait to have substantial traffic you're click rates will pay out more, & also Google doesnt' like adsense on a brand new site, for whatever reason. So it's confusing. I read about people who have gotten their adsense accounts closed for unknown reasons - I got my adwords account shut down because I ran an ad with Google (cash machine or something like that) in it for 1 day. So I"m more cautious than the next person.

I usually wait till there's traffic before I put Adsense but that's just me.

There is some reasoning that you should wait for the traffic before you add Adsense. However, I have seen no evidence of this, but what is the point of having Adsense on there with no traffic? It will do no harm as such, but psychologically you might have your head turned from the all important promotional strategies while you start trying to optimise the Adsense on your site.

You are going to get a lot of bad advice from people who really don't know how to make money with Adsense.

1. Until your site has VALUE in the eyes of Google don't worry about Adsense. If Google doesn't value your site then they won't pay you squat for clicks even if you have traffic.

2. Google applies reward/penalty site wide. So if you drag down your account with poor sites your entire network of sites suffers.

3. If you want to make money make sure your ads match the intentions of your visitors.

Adsense isn't about traffic. It's about RELEVANT TARGETED TRAFFIC that Google Values. And I have the monthly paychecks from 2003 to back it up.

But do whatever you want and believe whomever you want. The PROOF is in the paycheck.

Good luck. And remember that Adsense like all Online Marketing isn't about you... it's about delivering VALUE to your visitors.

  People are mixing adsense up with a whole lot of nonsense.
  Adsense is ads. It's potential revenue. If you have traffic,
  why would you not put adsense up? Even 1 visitor may click.
  The potential is there from day one.
  
  It makes no sense. No sense at all, to not put adsense up
  on day one your site is live.
  
  Now if you want to argue when/if your site is ready to be
  online live, that's a whole other bit, which people are mixing
  up.
  
  If your site is not ready for adsese, then it's not ready to

Is there anyway you can make adsense ads be what you want them to be - for instance i have a site that doesnt seem to display ads that are relevant at all to the topics i blog about? - sorry to hijack your thread.

There are different thoughts on this topic.

Some say you should wait at least 30,000 visitors a month, before any ads. Some say we should put the ads, because people are accustomed that good sites will have ads, and thus gives them the assurance that we have "strong" website.

I think it's totally irrelevant, whether you put Google Ads at the beginning or not, as long as (1)you're satisfied, (2)they do not disrupt the design of site and (3)do not break Google's rules.

Why wait? It's free.

I got one small ad up, doesn't really bother anyone {I asked my members} they were used to way bigger ones on our old server. So it sits there and gets a few clicks a day and doesn't cost me anything.

Just thought I would chime in on this one.

I have a network of about 20 sites that has been running for over a year.
I've put adsense on everyone one of those sites right away.

Some of my sites get less then 100 visitors per month.

I receive cheques from Google every month.

You can add adsense to your new site if your site content is not violate Google TOS . You may get a bit money some it, but a lot of small site will make big money. But if your site have click fault , you must remove Google Adsense out of your site. This is main reason , some people do not leave Google Adsense at small site.

great question, i suggest dont start adsense untill you average 50-100 visitors a day because the more impressions you get with no clicks can convert to low (eCPM)
if you want to keep that high wait untill your positive you have loyal readership on your blog.

There are a few times when I don't ad adsense right away. If I am going to submit the site to many directories - I find I sometimes get link approval more readily without ads. Usually, I just plop ads on when I build the site.

If you are new to building sites AND new to adsense - there's nothing lost in waiting a bit to place the ad blocks on the site. As you gain experience, there's no reason not to add it when you build the sites.

My reason for saying you might want to wait a bit is that I notice new site builders sometimes are so focused on adsense clicks they end up with poor sites and poor results. Better to focus on building a good site - writing good content - SEO, etc - better site quality equals more money from google ads.

The big thing I see is a lot of IMers don't take the time to learn about the systems they are engaged in. What InternetMarketingIQ was referring to is called Smart pricing. And in the case of Adsense, if you are not sending targeted traffic, they will pay you peanuts for the clicks and in certain cases, nothing at all. Some IMers are cheating themselves out of hefty paychecks because they haven't taken the time to understand how Smart Pricing works. InternetMarketingIQ is right, Adsense isn't about traffic; it is about relevant targeted traffic; which is why some people get paid $.25 for a click and others get $2.47 for the exact same click. Both are happy they got a check but I'd rather collect $2.47 on a click than $.25 any day!

In the same token, if a person is not concerned about smart pricing, it really doesn't matter when they put Adsense on the site.

Kay, you hit the nail right on the head! Currently, I've got about a dozen sites waiting to get listed in DMOZ and some other top directories. Once they are in, then I'll monetize them. I woke up to the fact about four years ago that DMOZ Editors hated monetized sites - especially those that had Adsense. We ran tests by submitting some of the same sites with the ads removed and they got approved 100% of the time.

My adsense goes up once my site is loaded and even before getting Google Indexed. Why wait? If you do all the right things to get indexed and search engine ranking, it will be very quick before everything starts coming together.

For a new website approved by google is difficult. At least 10 quality posts. But if your website is rejected, you do not keep trying to apply for it again. Leave for three months and add into the site you post at least three times a week. Then it tried to apply again using email and the new IP

Its a advertising program from which you can earn money. How?
First Sign Up at google adsense program and if you have a site then put more quality content to it or otherwise you can start a blog at blogger.com for free for any of your prime interests. Then by the time google will approve you and give you access to your account you have mad some content then paste the code and then we will continue telling more.

I suggest you not to understand all first because you will not be practical and it will create problems and anybody will not be glad to help you so do the basic steps and then we will tell you more secrets of placements and colours and many more stuffs.

I don't think it will be a problem if you are installing adsense the same day you have launched your website or blog. Why loose a single click when it is not known when and where the click would come from.

Sometimes its nice to wait until you've submitted to the human edited directories you plan to submit too. Your more likely to get accepted if your site is not littered with ads.
