domain name help!

Hey everyone... If I can't get just the main keyword in the domain name in .com, .net or .org ...

will the domain name still weight heavily if there is a hypen "-" in it.


for example: keyword: the red dress ...I can't buy thereddress.com, thereddress.org or thereddress.net BUT...

thered-dress.com is available....

I know you can rank any keyword over time but...is this an advantage of having the keyword in the domain with a hypen "-" ????

    Agree with redflea13, the hyphen will work; to make the domain name a bit more user-friendly I would separate all the words with hyphen, e.g. the-red-dress.com etc.

    I would recommend the-red-dress.com rather than thered-dress.com. It's important to have some form of consistency when having hyphens in the domain.

      But with two hyphens look little difficult for typing your site. Any way two of them will work and you may need to beat another site with this keyword.

        Generally speaking, there's no difference between having a hyphen in a domain name and not having it. But, if you are looking for a ranking boost that comes with having an exact match domain, a domain name with a hyphen just won't work as good as the non-hyphenated one.

    When you look from user view, hyphens not good. But if you want search engine love, you can go for hyphens. Go for the-red-dress instead thered-red. By that both user and SE will able to read it.

    Just glancing at it, it's not at all obvious that thered-dress.com parses to 'the red dress'. There's a word 'thered' with which I'm not familiar. You possibly can't see this, as you've come at it from the other direction.

    YourRedDress.com is not registered. One can always find some combination that makes sense, without hyphenation.

    Yeah hyphen between the two words work. No problem with it. You can use .org .in .com if you need domain. No matter with hypen .
