Backlinks directly to your website?

I warriors, so i have read that is better to do backlinks to your web 2.0 such a tumblr or vox , instead of making a backlink to your original domain, they says is to protect the domain... What do they mean by this? is better than crawl your tumbrl site to get eventually to your domain, rather than getting to the domain at once....

    They're saying that to help avoid getting your site sandboxed. I think that if you attach QUALITY links to your main site directly it won't do any harm. Google wants to see that.

      I never supported the myth about getting too much backlinks would get you sandboxedby the simple argument that you dont control who is linking your site.
      I thought there was anothe reason formy question.

        This really only affect new sites in my opinion. The reason for that is if you have a new or fairly new site and you have hundreds of backlinks to your site, it just doesn't look normal in googles eyes. It's more natural that lots of sites link or refer to a squidoo or ezine article versus linking to a new site has not been rank yet.

        So the way I would do it, I would do backlinks to my web 2.0 properties, then link that to my money site. By doing this you get link juice from your web 2.0's which can eventually make your site an authority site.

And there's the google dance but I usually end up more or less where I stay for quite abit until the next cycle comes and I have to backlink again.

          But yes, I agree that in essence what should be good is to build your site up real good before building links to your site, indirectly or not..

            But do you mean by "new cycle starts" refering to the PR update?
            Building your site real good , you reffer to build strong backlinks then profile ones?
            Thanks for the input guys, the issue is that i had a domain 1 year old which was with a 301 redirect like 2 months ago i build it, a start backlinking, with profile backlinks, before this it has none, the good thing i reached the 5th place for my first kw and 19th place for my second kw, no my site for the 1st kw dissapered from the serps like 11 days ago but still indexed and the second keyword is oj the third page.... very strange... what is more strange is that when i checked my ranking in the serps with rank checker from seo powersuite i saw that my site for the first keyword in Google Global search is 2nd but in my country serp (not local search) does not appear..... Seems i am sandboxed for backlinking in my country google search a not globally,.... is there any explanation for this???

    That who said it mean it's better to do SPAMY links to other sites and not to main domain.
    If you do article marketing then link straight to your home page.
    If you do auto blog commenting with spamy tool, then link on those web 2 properties.

    Dont know if it is "better" but it is a great SEO technique.
    Create a Web 2.0 property on vox or hubpages, with a link to your site.
    Then start building links to that page to make it gain higher PR.
    That one backlink will start to become stronger and strong as time goes by.

      Got it, so there are over 7 microblog services posterous,blogger,wordpress, but ping.fm does not support all of them is there another service to aumtomate this , to complement with ping.fm???

      I could says that after having this 7 microblogs autmomatized pointing to my original site, i would have only 7 powerful backlinks in the long run plus 5 or 6 good backlinks from other resources... having this 12 good-powerfull backlins is enought to get into any seo competition?.. Is there any other resource for getting backlinks not profile or blog commeting ones?

    I've heard of perfectly legit sites getting sandboxed and penalised, to me there just seems to be no guarantee either way.
