Would YOU say this is competitive?

Hi there everyone. I am using Market Samurai to find keywords and I came across two keywords that fit my criteria.

Search volume: >80 searches per day
Competition: less than 50,000 competing pages
PBR: Greater that 60%

All seems fine but have a look at the SEO Matrix for the two keywords and judging by the context of the qualifying criteria, what would your advice be in terms of going after the two following keywords?

Your input is highly appreciated!

Keyword 1:

Keyword 2:

#competitive

I don't think that this is a competitive keyword, you should go for it

Obviously doesn't know what they are looking at then....

Keyword one looks way too competitive especially for the amount of traffic you are chasing, in fact keyword two looks pretty competitive too and I'm sure there are lots of easier keywords to be chasing. I wouldn't chase either of those to be honest....much easier fruit to pick...

What would you suggest as a decent return on traffic for a keyword that would make you say "Go for it"

          Hey Daniel,

Keyword 1 looks tough - but Keyword 2 looks reasonably easy.

The backlinks (BLP) column is one of the big things to look at here.

Keyword 1 looks like it might take a bit of work to achieve rankings for.

I tend to look for anything with more than 2400 visitors a month (exact) for a adsense niche type of site.

Competition wise though I look for real easy fruit like the one below. The top site is mine (obivously wasn't there before I discovered the niche) but as you can see there are a few PR0 and the BLP is quite low for some of those sites. I got a EMD and now have the top spot and according to my Cpanel stats it recieved just over 2000 (which is less than the google keyword tool told me it would get) visitors for the month but it earned me just under $300 US for the month....pretty easy money.....but not always easy to find!

IMHO, keyword 1 looks too competitive. Keyword 2 looks like you could get to the bottom of page 1 but at 80 searches a day you're not going to get much traffic unless you get in the top 3.

Then again, I don't know what your link building plan is so I could be underestimating you.

I you want to make it more easy you should rank for the second keyword, you can make it i less time than kw1.

Thank you Cashcow for your input. I suppose if you are going to target a keyword and put effort into it you should at the very least reward yourself with a decent traffic flow.

Thanks for the nice idea bbdirect, I appreciate the time you took.

    Thank you as well Piscola

At first glance I'm thinking it's too much work for too little return.

    80 searches a day... I don't think I want to spam out 500 - 2,000 backlinks for that.

However, a lot depends on the quality of backlinks. If those sites are propped up with hundreds of profile and other generic backlinks then it's easy pickin's. I'll come through will a wrecking ball and knock those glass houses down

Also, is this a keyword that works with a site I already own? I can always write up a new blog post covering that keyword. The authority of my own site plus some additional backlinks to the post itself should do the trick.

And finally, is this a MONEY keyword? Are those 80 people a day really looking to buy something or are we relying on impulse sales.

Thank you TerryD and to Brent for your answers. I have scrapped KW1 as it is obviously far to competitive even if the competing sites are below 30,000 in this case. I am going to go for KW2 and see how that materializes. I am basically running an experiment between Work effort Vs. return. Despite the fact that less than 50,000 or even 30,000 site are competing for a keyword, how much work is needed to rank for that keyword and is it ultimately worthwhile? Many factors here such as the buyers potential of the keyword as well as the actual suitability of the offer. Thanks to all who answered anyway.
