Get Google to Index Site?

I recently bought a domain name 2 weeks ago and added new content and layout to the site. I have used SENuke to create links to the site, as well as submitted sitemap. The description found in Google SERP is still not updated and links are not showing up when I do a search in Google (link:<domain>).

Is this normal? How do I get Google to index the site quickly? How do I get the links updated as well?

    Google will index your domain soon enough. It varies from site to site, but you shouldn't rush it. A lot of people make a big mistake, when they see that their site is not indexed yet, they go crazy with backlinks and do more damage than good.

    Have there been previous owners of this domain? Sometimes, if the domain was active before, it may take awhile to get it indexed again.

    Thanks for the reply Josip. The domain was previously owned by someone, but I bought it out of an auction because the registration expired.

    @richsoon you mentioned that the domain was previously owned by someone so was it a domain that you bought off someone or was it a dropped domain and another thing prior to buying the domain did you do all the checks to see if it was not blacklisted ???

    One thing you could do is get your site verified by google webmaster and that may get it indexed or add it to say Digg that usually get the site indexed quickly.

      @Mega B it was a dropped domain.

      the home page appears to have been indexed by google now, but not the rest of the site. i guess i have to wait a bit.

      how do you check if the domain was blacklisted?

        If the main page is on next it will be the Privacy policy and you are in. Just wait. And build up backlinks gradually. For me the No. 1 tactic that got me on Google in 5 days is Hubpages. I ranked my hub on page 1 before I even got on Google.

    just give it a few social bookmarks - thats a sure fire way to get google to crawl the whole site asap.

    My site's on facebook, twitter with several links each and Google has barely sniffed at it. The main page is indexed and a few others, but the vast majority of over 60,000 pages has yet to be touched.

    There a way to individually submit pages of the same site to google?

      the best way is to add it to social bookark sites. You can find people here on the warrior forum who will add your site to many SB-sites for $5 which is really worth it. Then your site will be indexed in 2 - 3 days. No guarantees but it works for me!
