Bizarre SERPs situation

I was checking my SERPs for a major keyword and discovered the following:
A mirror website (identical content but different domain) that I use only for Clickbank affiliates turned up on Page 7 of Google. I have never promoted this site and it has almost no backlinks. Since day one this site has had "no index, no follow" tags to avoid the risk of duplicate content.
My primary website showed up on Page 9 for the same keyword. I have promoted this site tirelessly for more than two years and it has hundreds of backlinks. Despite my best efforts it has slipped from #3 on Page 1 to Page 9. Meanwhile, my non-promoted, no-index, no-folow, no links site has passed it in the SERPs!
Go figure!
