Backlinks to Articles?

I have read many times about backlinking to articles - not just articles with affiliate links but to articles used for backlinks/traffic to websites. Does anyone do this? If so, what do you link to your articles - other articles? Thanks.

Cindy P.

In case of confusion.. I mean articles written for directories, not articles written for your blog or website.

Anyone?

It's really simple. You put a link in the resource box to your own website. Another option is to put your affiliate link to a product, but make sure that you comply with the article directory terms of use.

Thank you for your reply, but I believe I confused you. Sorry... here is the scenario.

I already use articles for traffic/backlinking. I do put links (in the resource box) from these articles to my websites/blogs. So - should I now create backlinks to these articles? If so, what kind of backlinks (2.0, other articles, etc.)? I have just read that some marketers do this. Thank you.

Creating backlinks to the articles themselves will be a very good strategy. To do that effectively you can create web 2.0 properties on websites like Squidoo and Hubpages, so link from these properties to your articles. This will rise the authority of the articles, will help them rank higher which eventually will rise the authority of your main site.

You shouldn't put too much effort into backlinking articles in directories - it's more important to get the articles on your own sites ranking well. Having said that, if you have articles that are already doing reasonably well on an article directory but just want to push them up the rankings a little further I recommend social bookmarking e.g. with socialmarker.com or onlywire.com.

You can also build links from web 2.0 sites, submit the rss feeds, or link from other directories. For instance if the article you want to get backlinks to is on EZA you could do a mass submission to other directories linking back to it.

If you want to help your articles rank in the search engines then absolutely.

There are many different ways to build links- just treat the articles as you would your normal blog or website.

You can add links from other article directories, web 2.0 sites, bookmarking sites, profile links, blog commenting etc.

Just like with a normal site, the more links to your articles, the higher they will rank.

I have in the past. A lot of times, I'll try and pick off 1-2 spots for relatively easy search terms that are fairly high volume. Many times a specific winery gets 2k searches a month and outside of their official site which is always going to be #1, you can take the next couple of spots and go from there.

It is very simple to create backlinks to your articles. It is done for the purpose of increasing rank in the search engines.
You can put backlinks of your article in several other sites or article directories. You can also create backlink of the article itself to increase its ranking and traffic.

The newer method of backlinking that is available in most of the new article directories or sites is bookmarking the article in several social networking sites, like Facebook, Twiter, Technorati or sites that have relevant content.

You can place the link on other articles which is relevant to the article you are writing. The more relevant links , the more it will be better on search engines. And write the article with good content which can attract other users to read your article.

I am just starting to have some articles listed. I want to do more of them. One suggestion I read recently is to take blog articles and re-write them for an article and post it to an article site. But automatic programs that "re-write for you are said to be bad investments.

It is better to re-write these yourself.

I like my websites and blogs to the bottom of my articles I have online.
