multiple backlinks from same website?

Hey guys, i was wondering if i get more than one back link from the same website but different pages, would Google count them as 1 or will i get credit for each one?

    i think you should better concentrate on getting backlinks from sites related to yours... the ones that are ranking better then you for similar keywords should be your target

    you'll have diminishing returns, not sure how much juice you can milk from a single site but after you reach a certain number of backlinks you'll cease to get any benefit from that site.

    I think that there is benefit to getting multiple back links from one site. Otherwise, why would it be so advantageous to get your article in one of the list at the bottom of each article? EG. the most viewed, most published, etc.

    I have read in a number of places that if you get your article in those list, you will get multiple back links and boost your SERP ranking.

    No one knows for sure, but IF the case I submit here is valid, and it seems to be, then multiple links from one site is advantageous.

    No one knows the answer to this question. There has never been any statements either way from any of the search engines. Anything said on this is pure speculation.

    In these situations, I try to ask myself what would I do, if I was Google? So think about it ... what would you do if your were Google (or any other search engine). Personally, I would not count multiple links from the one site. What about you?

      There's stuff on squidoo that outranks a BUNCH of stuff - with ONLY other squidoo interlinking links.

      Ive seen a typepad micro blog with nothing but other typepad micro platform interlinks get a PR4 and 100's links < 3 months.

      To me - PR4 infers link juice flowing TO the site [ not serp power ] - so. .. what would google do? or what is google .... doing .... ?

    Since google counts each page separately in PageRank and Indexing, I would assume backlinks from different Pages of same website would count as different Backlink.

    I have seen my articles submitted to same Article Directory show up in Site Explorer Links as separate backlinks.

    The question is how valuable these links from same domain would be?
    If you see each backlink as a vote to your site, I would assume that it wouldn't be too helpful in ranking your site.

    To answer your question: Yes, Google will give you credit for each one.

    I think multiple links from one site is counted as different backlinks.
    Reason for my thinking is social bookmark links all coming from same set of sites count, article marketing, forum marketing etc.

      State of the art knowledge is as follows:

      1. Every link counts, don't knock any of them. If you can get 1000 links from a website, especially one that is keyword-rich for you or clearly on-theme, go for it.

      2. As a number of people said, there are diminished returns. Two links on the website are way better than just one. But 1000 links might not be much better than 900 (numbers are just illustrative).

      3. Best strategy, when available, is to get several good quality links, each with a different anchor text and/or each pointing to a different page of your site. At least in theory, you will have less diminishing of your returns. The wonderful aspect of article directories is that you can have links on different pages, each rich in different keywords, with your anchor text and/or URL varying to match.

    All depends on the site. A dozen banklinks from enzines would be treated very differently from a dozen links on a low ranking blog.

    I think all of your backlinks will be counted but it is still better that you link to different domain as much a s you can. It is just like this. It is better if there are many people promoting you than a single person. Right?

    As was posted by raiJBL, Google ranks each PAGE separately, so it stands to reason that they would count links on different pages of a site separately. Not only that, but I would tend to think that as Google assigns the juice from each page divided by the number of links on that page to each link, if you have two or more links on a page, as occurs on a forum such as WF, you will get multiple shares from that page.

    Can't be sure of this, but that seems logical to me. And, isn't the web logical? All ones and zeros?

    Yes i think it depends on keyword if you use different keywords for different pages. then google will not count them as one and if you search through that keyword than that page will open.

    Back in the day sitewide links were uber powerful. People would just pay a forum for a sitewide link and rank on pretty much any keyword they liked. Google nerfed sitewide links a few years ago now so it is better to concentrate on getting links from different domains on different IP's.
