The classic argument, 1 x pr5 in content backlink beats 2000 pr0 profile backlinks.... Experiences??

You see this argument all the time, why are you creating 2000 pr0 profiles when 1 pr5 in content backlink can beat it?

Does anyone have any evidence behind these claims? The only people that seem to have evidence are the established warriors such as Tom Goodwin and Terry Kyle proving that profile backlinks work.

Surely if 1 in content PR5 backlink worked... You could do some absolute wicked keyword research, and choose a great keyword, and put up this one backlink and destroy your competition?

I have done testing on high PR blog comments, with no spam or other previous comments, and in the test, the profile links won to get better rankings.

1 PR5 may beat 2000 profile backlinks but any backlink can be gone tomorrow so i would rather have 2000 profile backlinks.

And the question "why create ... ?" is wrong i think, you should create both

    Hi Adam,

It's not easy to make any tests because there are so many factors in SEO.

I don't believe there is any formula like that.
I mean there isn't public formula, but Google has one for sure and that one is more complex. It's not just about PR and number.

Don't think about that. Try to build as much links as you can. Try to get as much quality links as you can.

Quantity also does matter to rank high in google. Also there are other search engines that can send significant traffic and they depend more on quantity as compared to google.

Quality matters more than anything else.

If people really knew that 5 high PR backlinks are
worth gold, they would stop forum profile-blog comment
      spamming.

      *sigh*

If people read this whole part of the forum, they would have
      already figured that out.

Instead, daily, we get threads from people who keep asking
what to do after getting a zillion useless links, and no traffic.

Unless paying for it, how do you get hold of a subject related PR5 backlink? Getting a few thousand spam / profile backlinks is easy.

Because those backlinks are easy, is one thing that perpetuates
the myth of backlinks. Quantity wise, that is.

          Quality sells, but nobody's buying.
