Just was reading the February 27th edition of "the Economist" about the importance of data and information in our world today and they were talking about how Google uses data to determine its search rankings and goes on to say:

One example is Google's search engine, which is partyly guided by the number of clicks on an item to help determine its relevance to a search query. If the eighth listing for a search term is the one most people go to, the algorithm puts it higher up.

Although probably already known by many, the fact that this is further solidified might prove important to a newbie.
