Backlinking? Link Wheeling? Is anyone really certain?

I'm looking at the different options on outsourcing SEO for potential clients and to be honest it's all become confusing. I've been on one thread in the SEO section fo the forum where loads of people seemed to end up telling the other they were just plain wrong on backlinking.

I also came across a thread talking about Google was about to stamp on any site that had used paid backlinking services. Then there are the threads that say link wheels are what sites need only to be followed with threads that say link wheels are dead.

What's the deal? I don't really want to take any future clients down a route that is about to get their sites punished or don't really make a difference. Any thoughts on this would be welcome and some ideas on what I should be looking for when outsourcing to any of these services.

Thanks

Andrew

While it does not directly answer your question yet, but I recommend reading my thread here:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...rmediates.html

It answers a lot of fundamental SEO questions so may help you.

The science of SEO still applies. Linkwheels are meant to create better PR. So yes they are going to help. Random link graphs may be safer in the longer run.

I hope to explain random graph links too latter on that thread - it is something simple but effective.

I outsource a lot of my SEO stuff, mainly all the redundant backlinking. What google means by paid links is, buying like text links from known link farms, or sites that are out in the open about selling links etc...Those will def not help your clients what so ever...How ever, i you pay someone to do your social bookmarking, submit articles, blog reviews, guest blogging, etc...those are all perfectly fine, because your paying for the service it self, not the link...

Nothing is absolutely certain with this stuff. Everything is assumption really. But to your questions:

Link wheels are dead compared to the way they used to work. When you make these things, they aren't so much "wheels" anymore but more link structures.

Buying backlink services has been posted about a few million times on here about how after buying 500 links their site all of a sudden disappeared from its ranking, but I personally don't believe thats Google punishing you but more their method of reevaluation for where you site needs to be. There are large corporations that pay to have thousands of links a day added to their sites. They wouldn't do this if it had such a bad impact.

LIke I said though, I don't know if any of this is true or not.

  • Thanks for the input guys - really appreciated.

If I'm looking to outsource I'm trying to strike a balance of pricing versus quality of links. In other words I'm aware you get what you pay for but I want to make it tempting at the same time by not making it cost prohibitive for the smaller business.

Does anyone have any tips about what to be looking for in the ads for those who offer outsourcing services. More importantly does anyone have ay recommendations for good services being offered here on warrior forum. After all I'd rather put money back into warriors pockets if at all possible.

Also is it worth me avoiding regular backlinging services and going straight for the bigger link structure offerings or do warriors think that would be a useful upsell / premium package.

    Thanks

Andrew, you can check service in my signature.
It's not easy for Google to find pattern in this method because it's very random.

Building more backlinks overnight will result in google considering your site as a spam so better build constant number of backlinks that is make routine to build few backlinks every week or outsource to services which builds high quality but fewer links for you this makes a huge difference.

As i have found websites must atleast be 6 months old for google to consider a site getting more backlinks at a time.

Until google thinks your site is new there is risk, if you build more link.

The key to building backlinks is maintaining your link building velocity and dropping links on high quality sites. Now don't get me wrong, building web2.0 props and linking to your main site is fine, but remember to keep those web2.0 props relevant you need to post more than once to them and you need to build some backlinks that point to them as well.

In the end, a link is a link is a link, there is no such thing as a bad backlink. Just make it look natural, don't try PR sculpting, google will see that, and it won't work..........IMO.

    Peace

    Andrew,

Its all 'swings and roundabouts', what I'd suggest is you create a few of your own sites that implement these methods, that way you can be a lot more confident when you try ans sell to your clients and also you'll have first hand experience to prove it.

I listen to what people say here buy always like to test stuff myself just to be on the safe side as well as.enhancing.my knowledge.

    Andrew,

IF you're going to sell these services for your clients, you BETTER speed up your own personal tests in different markets/keywords.

One thing I learned the hard way back in the day was this: Never put your clients websites in jeopardy - Always run your tests in safe mode with your own sites/blogs/web properties/whatever.

And try to test everything in your own private network - don't take a "expert" word as advice...

    All the best!
