Do blog posts work as well as articles for backlinks to improve page rank?
It just seems like it would be quicker and easier to post in several blogs than writing longer articles and submitting them.

Try to have a combination of links from different sources. blogs, forums, profile links, articles, directories, .edu & .gov, etc. Trust me it work well instead of concentrating on only one way to build links.

I would rather post articles to many different directories.
There are many services that offer this for a great price.
I am sure you could even check here on the forum as well.

It's true that it's easier to post in blogs and many people go to that route... but that also means articles directories will have more link juice for your site simply because they are more trusted by Google and other search engines.

You need to write a decent article, if not just outsource it for $5 for a 500 words article, submit to ezine and use Distribute Your Articles and get link juice for your own website.

If you chose to outsource your articles, there's a great website that
has a data base of writers ready to do the job. I've used them.
it's textbroker.com $1.20 per 100 words. Their articles are quality as well.

Article directories by their very nature have so many internal and external links. They'll have a higher page rank.

It is easier to rank for an article on a directory than for a brand spanking new blog.

I recommend using the article as a way to capture search engine traffic but have a link to your blog.

Since Google will only give you one backlink from one domain, it's probably better to have one article on ten different directories linking to your blog than having 10 articles from one directory linking to your blog.

  • Article directories are better than blog commenting. Article dirs have tons of backlinks and are trusted by search engines.

Best bet is to post to both articles and blogs, not sure blog commenting is a great return on time spent, but you can look for services like SEOlinkVine and use 1 or 2 of those for distribution on blogs.
