Good SEO can be done without any other tool that a good keyword research tool and some SEO checking tools (such as PR checker, kw analysis calculator...).
Most of the link building, at least what I think is quality link building is done manually, not using sofware. Good content, good articles, post, submission to social media sites... are what will give you quality backlinks.

I totally agree with Wechito. Tools are just tools , try to treat Your work more naturally.

However In my day to day activities I am using rapid.searchmetrics.com
They have 2 great tools there:
          1. Which checks backlinks of a page along with a PR ( It uses yahoo database) - many tools like this we have but this one is quite fast
          2. The other tool called "Searchmetrics Report" - this one valuates Your site regards to SEO. After report is done You get a percentage score of Your site.

 i see most of my competitors has a thousands of links, generating this amount of links manually can take years of full time work. when i see most of the major seo farms promise with top ranking with a keywords in months. And i tried them once and they really do what they promise 5000 back links in 2 months,,,,, so how manually can you do that??

Absolutely agreed. Nothing replaces 'human'/manual work. I've tried so many different tools and none of them live up to my satisfaction. When I started Link Vines, I tried more automated tools than ever before and they just can't hang (not that none of them do anything but they're not good enough for me) so we continue to be a hand-crafted service because we just can't settle for less.

I have tools like Market Samurai (which I can't live without) but link building and content creation is done manually (except for article spinning which technically we do manually because we do the word additions ourselves so that each article makes perfect sense but we do use spinners to generate bulk article batches that we can use in various places).

You're not going to spend that much more time doing things manually vs. fooling with the tools, making sure they COMPLETELY did what they were supposed to (which they usually don't), troubleshooting problems, going back and fixing what they didn't do, etc.; doing it manually will give you the right stuff the first time around.

I'm not sure about the usefulness of any tool that can really help you to build some quality backlinks for your site. I'll welcome if someone can share his/her experience who used it effectively.

I personally used nodofollow, seoquake and rank checker. But you know they're not for link building purpose.

Well.. I am all for tools.. but the right tools.
However, I am yet to find a reliable link building tool that can do 5000 links in 2 months. ScrapeBox is there, but I doubt if at least 5% of them is going to be counted by Google. SENUKE is probably THE tool that I could not live without. Have heard good things about Link Kahuna... but never tried it yet. Then there are the blog networks like LinkVana, SEO LinkVine etc.

    I use among others:

    Scrapebox
    SEO Spyglass
    Automatic Article Submitter

Those are the three tools I use most.

I am looking to get some forum profile creator tool, but unsure on the alternatives.

Of the three above, SEO Spyglass is the one I would use the most for serious manual linkbuilding. Still waiting to see if SEO Linkvine will have any effect on rankings.

      thanks for the valuable reply,
i think seo linkvine won't live long. i am a member of this network but as a publisher. I have an old website with a pr1, it is very trusted as all the contents was original. i decided to drop it because it is a bad domain name, undeveloped and i would prefer now to choose domains with the exact high search keywords to be easy to rank as a micro niche.

so i decided to give them a try on this domain before i drop it. The articles they publish to my site indexed very very fast, even within minutes. But fail to attract any visitors. 10 visitors/ day with a 300 article published. I think that their article spinner is bad. so google catch that it is not a uniqu article so rank it bad.

so i think the publishers will leave them soon and with no publishers no network.

Yes but with the free version you cannot save your work. You also cannot click on the links and you can't copy them too. If you just want to know how many backlinks a site has and other information about the links like PR, and domain age the free version would suffice. If you want to check out the links of other competing websites - might not be the best tool. What I do - since I just use the free version - I manually type the url - sure defeats the purpose of automation.

Also, the free version uses yahoo results. You need the paid version for the Google results.

So I would not really say it has 99% of the features...maybe 98.9%??? lol

  • If you want quality links, SEO tools are NOT the way to go. Sure, you can get tools to submit to directories, submit articles to submission sites, etc. to build low quality back links whose link juice decays quickly over time.

Blog commenting, forum sigs, directory submission, article submissions, etc. are all unnatural link building techniques where you "plant" links to your own site on other websites. And all of these techniques suffer from the phenomenon where they provide a decent initial boost but their effectiveness decays over time very quickly. What this means is that in order to even maintain your existing rankings, you have to continue to build links. It's like swimming upstream. If you stop building links and your back link profile is made up of these low quality links then your rankings will quickly drop.

Unfortunately, these are the types of links that 99% of SEOs build. They do it because 99% of the SEOs out there come from a technical background. They are ex-web designers, ex-web developers, or ex-webmasters. They don't possess the most important skills needed for good link building... marketing and sales skills... the ability to network with people... the ability to smooze other webmasters and stroke their egos... the ability to convince other webmasters that they WANT to link to their site.

The best link builders are those with excellent marketing and sales skills. Good link building takes time. It requires identifying the influencers in your site's vertical - people who have the reach to influence a lot of people. It involves creative and imaginitive ways to build relationships with theses influencers. That might mean following and interacting with them on Twitter for months, participating in discussions on their blogs for months, looking for ways to meet them in person like at a conference. The goal is to build a real relationship with them LONG before you even attempt to get them to link to your site. And then getting creative in coming up with ways to get them to link to your site.

If you're in the travel space and promoting a resort site, perhaps you give them a free weekend at the resort and treat them like kings there in hopes that they'll give your resort a great review.

If your selling widgets perhaps its sending them free samples to try out. You shouldn't even have to ask for a review of the widgets. If they are good AND you've already established a "real" relationship with them, they will automatically do it.

There are other creative ways as well to get back links from other sites. For example if you're a mortgage company perhaps you build a mortgage calculator widget that generates HTML that any site can use to display a mortgage calculator simply by copying and pasting the HTML into their web pages. If you make the widget so that it has various colors, various widths, etc. then most sites will ignore the fact that the <h2> at the top of the widget links back to your site's mortgage calculator page with the link text "mortgage calculator".

These are but a few ways the "real" SEOs build quality "natural" one-way back links from other sites without having to use low quality, unnatural back link building techniques.

I'm sorry but there is NO tool on the planet that can build "quality" back links... All rights for that are reserved for the human brain... those brains with marketing skills... not necessarily technical skills.

Good post and I agree, this is the most effective way of linkbuilding.

BUT.. and it's a big BUT; most internet marketers do not have websites that are easy to 'sell'. Who wants to link to a very commercial, low content site? But these sites still make money, so you have to be creative.

You know, another great tip to get links from webmasters is to offer them to do some SEO services for free in exchange for a link.

      Works like a charm.

      It's all in the pitch.

Your digixmas article submitter tool is the best. i tried its free copy and it is great. easy, full automatic and take no time to submit to 100 directory. But i have two issues, the first the low acceptance rate although i used an article that was accepted at ezinearticles. Also little expensive 10$/article, i would prefer to pay once or even reasonable monthly fees

Tools that I have used for linkbuilding is submitting content to blog networks. But the tedious part is you have to make sure that the content across the network is not duplicate. The link building process was at a rate of 250 links for 3 months etc ... Other than that Article submission software, that supports content variation are OK from my experience.

I mostly do article submission for my stuff and i think that is the easiest way for me to link build. Additionally, i recently just discovered www.rysite.com. it is a free article directory site that tweets your article to a following based off of your keywords. I started using it and got traffic not only from my articles, but also from their tweets. I was pretty pleased with it.

I like Market Samurai. I like that it does not have a monthly fee and can do a lot of different things. I usually use to to stay on track when planning new sites.

Wordtracker GTrends. This is where I do my keyword research. The rest is just following a boring plan with those keywords.

Your SEO campaign will never be completed without SEnuke as a partner. I've been using this incredible SEO tool for over 2 years now and it gives me tremendous results ever since.

SEnuke X as the revolutionary and updated version of this tool is on its way out so we'll watch out for that how this is gonna be exciting in the SEO industry.

    My two cents!

Hello man you gotten some good suggestions here the senuke sounds interesting.

Two I really like are the seopressor wp plug in and market samurai these have helped me tremendously.

I have the automatic article submitter but to me it's nothing like advertised.

    Hope this helps.

Right on, Steve. What more can I say with SEnuke, it's like the best SEO buddy to me

Alongside, I'm quite impressed with SEO PowerSuite services as well.

I've had problems with MSamurai before so I turned it down, I'd prefer BMD over it

I only use SEOQuake in most cases and do other things manual. I think something like SEOQuake is good enough if you have information about SEO.

I have the whole SEO power suite collection (which SEO Spyglass is a part of), and aside from LinkAssistant, which is terrible, that whole package is fantastic.

I also second Market Samurai, though to be honest, I don't think I know how to use it to the best of it's abilities, and the price tag there is kind of steep for what I do use it for. That's my problem, though, not the software's.

Great Question @SEODeveloper - For me it's SEMRush.com. Great information about PPC and Organic data in one location and it also integrates data from Google nicely. Plus it's easily exportable so you can do whatever you want with the data in Excell. Three Cheers for SEMRUSH!

If you really need to purchase tools then I think 1 decent tool 'per process' would suffice. For example a decent 'keyword research tool' such as Market Samurai, the GAKT tool and SEO Quake/SEO for Firefox.

Secondly, you need something that will give you some intelligence on content and what to write. There are plenty of tools that will extract long tailed keywords from the SERPS so you have an idea of what to write for whoever will develop the content.

Thirdly, link building tools. You can spend sooo much money here and get quite lost. There are plenty of article distribution services such as UAW/SEO Linkvine? Article Marketing Robot and more. In addition to this, tools that allow you to find backlinks are something you may need, I prefer to outsource this as I have found the quality to be much better from manual link building. There are also automation tools where you can create forum profiles etc....again I tend to avoid these.

Anyway, my point is that you want tools that will help you speed up tasks and will improve your workflow, just using these tools alone will not make you money. You need to master the art of driving traffic, converting that traffic and then you can use these tools to just help you refine that process in a more orderly fashion.

    Hope that makes sense.

I haven't mentioned too many software tools as many people have mentioned all the usual suspects above.
