Using link juice for SERP ranking?

Hi all, I understand how link juice is achieved but I notice many warriors advise using lower PR article sites to link to your higher PR article sites thereby creating link juice for the higher PR articles.

If my ultimate goal is to raise the SERPs rank of a website via article backlinks, wouldn't it be better to use each article site to directly backlink to my website, or, is there some sort of multiplier. Thinking visually, I am wondering what will have a better SERPs effect: having a PR7, PR4 and PR3 article backlink direct to my domain, OR, having PR3 and PR4 articles backlinking to a PR7 article that then backlinks to my domain.

Sorry for posting 2 questions in short succession but I think the answers from experienced warriors will be useful for many people here.

By linking to your other articles as well as your main site, your other articles now have more link juice because they have links going to them.

Now that your other articles have more link juice, they pass more link juice along to your main site as well.

For example, do you think it's better to get a backlink from a page which has 0 backlinks, or from a page that has "some" backlinks...AKA "credibility"?

So I was just putting 1 link to my website in the resource/bio boxes but I suppose it is common practice where allowable to link your high PR article(s) as well as your website from the article sites that allow multiple links in article / in the bio box?

      That makes way more sense.
