RSS Directories / Blog Directories - Same Thing?

I'm going backwards and forward on this one - finding lists of recommended blog directories that don't include Technorati (so is Technorati not a blog directory?), finding sites that talk about "Blog and RSS Directories" as if they were the same - I'm just getting confused!:confused:
Can anyone expalin or point me to a resource where I can read up on what is a Blog Directory vs. a Feed directory? And a recommended list of each that are worth submitting to?
