Can I Do This? SEO tactics

Hi,

I have been in the top 10 for my keyword for about 1 year. I had a new site come in and take the top spot and has had it now for about 3 months it's a brand new site. I have never done investigation of the competition, but once I investigated, I noticed that they beat me in external links. Most of their links are through Technorati. I had not used Technorati and was wondering, could I go back and bookmark all my articles on my site. The site started in 2008, so I would have some work to do. My real question is, would there be any penalty for going back from the beginning and marking those pages? I wanted to take a day and do that. Does it matter how slow or fast I do these or does it even matter?

To beat your competitors in Natural Search, try to get the backlinks they don't have and also get the backlinks they have. But the backlinks they have will not help you that much.

Also, their rankings may have improved because of backlinks from trusted domain despite of nofollows. So get links from trusted domains like technorati but focus on getting more backlinks from sources they dont have links on.

I don't think there will be any penalty but don't make the link intensity too unnatural.

Don't focus too much on Technorati - try other link-building methods as well.
