Well,
I'm sure you all know my recent craze with forums when I start to realize the potential, benefits of forums.

This is a well know fact but like many others I've disregarded it and didn't think much of it.

Until I started to see the benefits of it in traffic from my signature as well as my backlinks and SEO rankings.

Well one downside of forum backlinks it that so often there are also another 100+ outbounding links which reduce the SEO juices.

However if you have posts(Still Quality Posts!) that aren't replied to(I'm starting to be very skilled in doing this lol) because say they weren't very interesting enough or too detail for people to reply to.

Shouldn't the outbound links be less and the SEO power and weight of the link be increased?

Sorry please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks

Oops. Sorry to dilute your backlinking strategy, but didn't you just ask the same question here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...our-posts.html ?

Or are you testing whether two almost identical threads will double the SEO power?

As far as I know, the value of a backlink from a same IP address diminishes. So it's a good idea to get backlinks from various sources and not just focus on one forum.

      Hello,

Your response seems interesting. Do you mean to say that the value of having a backlink from a single IP reduces the value of that backlink? And what you exactly mean by "various sources"....? Could you please elaborate?

As I have said your response is really interesting....as it also confusing me....

      JimmyS

PS. Sorry...I'm new to this stuff....

Have a read of my post, various sources is taking advantages of other forums within your niche etc.

As per the IP address in backlinking, the more backlinks from one ip, which is inturn this exact site the value is diminished due to the quantity of links.

I am not sure of the exact science behind it.

Additional links from the same site do not diminish the value of the first back link they just do not add as much value as the first. The additional back links do not hurt you in any way they just have less value than the first one.

Various sources would be multiple websites/ip's. You are much better off getting 100 back links from 100 separate websites than 100 links from a single forum signature. Diversity is best when looking at both sites and types of back links.

I find that when I participate in forums I also gain twitter, facebook followers as well as traffic and SE luv to my site(s). Depending what I link to in my sig on that particular forum.

Here on warriors I mainly get new facebook, twitter and linkedin followers / friends. Though I don't post that often anymore I was getting at one time several thousand a week visitors unique IP's to my site from here. Removed that link from my sig now but if you post good content and help people you will get fans that follow you around.

It's weird really, at least to me.

I find the traffic gained from the links can be even more beneficial than the actual "SEO power" from the links.

I have not been a member of this forum long enough to be specific. I am not even putting in a sig link until I have been here longer.

Nevertheless, from other forums I have been in for years I have had the same experience as Chris.

I agree with you guys discussing the traffic benefits over the 'SEO power' thats what I find more effective, well not effective but the link is an additional benefit for me, Also spreading around your forum posting efforts not just solely focused on one particular forum, there are many powerful forums within this niche that can be used which will be of great additional value.

most forums are nofollow backlinks. but can still increase the PR of your site. check out the firefox add-on: nodofollow. it will help you figure out if they are do or nofollow backlinks

Even if the forum is dofollow, the backlink power isn't much because of the large no of outbound links on the page(as you mentioned), and also the page probably has a low pr, as not many thread get high pr. And multiple links from the same forum wouldn't help much as Shaun Lee metioned
