Is anyone affected by this new google ranking factor? "Site Speed"

I recenctly read a post on how google will start using site speed as a ranking factor.

Is anyone being affected by this new ranking factor or seeing any difference?

If so where and how is it affecting you?

I would like to know because this might help me and maybe others when build a site for SEO.

    No, because I build quality, reputable, relevant websites,
    which far outweighs any speed algo. People who do complain
    have built lousy, google-breaking websites to begin with.
    If speed affected your rankings, then you have bigger problems
    than speed.

    Speed is said to be one of the factors Google will take into account for ranking a page.
    But it will be difficult for page that have many graphics/images . The only way you can beat the speed factor is to have quality content. Speed alone can't get you the top.

    Site speed is a very minor factor in the rankings... I agree with paulgl ... I have several sites that are relatively "slow" and there rankings have not been affected as I think they are good sites with good content and good backlink profile.

    What a stupid ranking factor....speed? what the hell. Most people have broadband these days, how impatient do Google think people are. If people can wait for flash sites they can wait for html sites which never take as long anyway.

    What about quality content?.....is a fast ****ty site going to beat a slower content rich site? probably not...but it still shouldnt be a ranking factor IMO.

      If you read Google's announcements its not that stupid. Google is all about giving a good expereince to the surfer.

      If 2 sites rank equally well on relevance to your search query (assuming all other things being equal), which one would you prefer google to serve you in the search results? I would prefer the faster loading one.

        Were talking what like a 5-15 second difference...woopdidoo who cares:p

        This is a generation brought up on that slow as snails Playstation...I think we will all survive.

        And to answer your question...that logic is flawed you cant have "all things equal" because each sites content will be unique...and I'd prefer the site with the best content not speed.

    Site Speed is not a weighted factor (trust, authority and relevance is), so it's unlikely that you'll see any effect from it.

    i don't think a factor of having a super fast loading speed will increase your position, but can definitely drop your rank if your site is slow

    Thanks everyone for your replies this is good information to know. I guess in some ways its a good thing but its not something we should worry about as much. I just wanted to know if it was considered I major factor in rankings and by the looks of it thats not the case.
