Also - you're in a really high competition niche. You need to do some serious keyword research to find those low competition, long tail keywords otherwise you'll never get up the Google rankings.

Remember - if you write a blog about "limbo dancing in My Small Village", it's easy to get to position one in Google and get any traffic that happens to be searching for that term. If you write a blog about "Make Money Online" there are literally zillions of sites, many established for a long time, competing or the same niche.

You need to find a USP (unique selling point - or at least, low competition keyword or two)

Or, establish a killer reputation so that people are keen to read what's in your sig file.

Have you done some research to see how many searches that term gets?

Well, backlink watch is only pulling in 5 links. Only one of those is showing the anchor text "Make Money online Finding Spelling Mistakes On ebay"

Try submitting some articles around the web, with some nice anchor text that go to specific blog posts.

Also, do yourself a favor and find some places like blog catalog and other blogging directories to join.

Create some hubs, squidoo, etc and some other web 2.0 properties that are informative and link back to your site.

Finally, get an autoresponder on there with a free give away so you can collect the traffic you are getting.

Personally, I think you have too many ads on there - so when you do get visitors this may be too distracting. Maybe focus on just a couple of things to monetize on first and really hone in on a few keywords/phrases to start.

I use the Google keyword tool adwords.google.co.uk/select/KeywordToolExternal

Enter your search term and to see how many exact searches it gets you need to do two things:
              1) scroll down the page and in the left hand menu choose [exact]
              2) click on "advance options" immediately underneath the box where you enter your search term and choose "ideas containing my search terms"

              Hope that helps

Show me some of the examples of your backlinks. So that I can tell you what is wrong with you.

  • You haven't been at it long enough. It takes months to build a small following, years to build a large one. Just keep plugging.

its very frustrating TBH, i have spent months doing all the squidoo's and blog linking even all the directories, the backlinks dont show my hard work over the past months, you also have to put into account all the work i done on the main site taking away /blog the blog is a new idea, i have worked very hard marketing my main page not the best page i know but i did get a page rank 2 eventually, but it still does not bring in enough traffic

I am reaching for the big DELETE button as i type. Noooo stop it i shall not give up : )

        Don't give up. You're learning.

The point I was trying to make is - you are chasing a non-existent keyword. No-one searches for "Make genuine cash online".

You need to find some terms that people DO search for.

Personally I'm not a fan of back-linking beyond a certain amount. I always go for organic traffic first - along with a few articles and I also find Hubpages helpful.

For me, the key is longtail keywords. Don't look too hard - I don't - just write. Those long tail keywords just sort of write themselves in. it never ceases to amaze me which terms people find my sites with.

Sometimes you can try too hard.

Just be patient it takes time to get exposure to your blogs, just keep doing promotion also don't post too much about affiliate products, write a post that gives value for the readers not some advertisement.

when you say long tail keywords is this basically a sentence within your post/article? and not the title of your post?

      I really appriciate this help

This is how I understand the definition of a "long tail keyword"

Imagine one of those graphs that has a large bump at the beginning and then tails of gradually.

The height of the graph at any point is the number of search for a keyword at that point on the graph.

So - imagine the heighest part of the bump is "make money online" with (say) 200,456 searches a month.

As you move away from the bump, you find related keywords or phrases with lower search volume. So you might find further along "make instant money online" getting (say) 45,789 searches a month.

The longer the graph goes on for and the further away from the original keyword you get, the longer "tail" it has.

So you might find a "long tail keyword" (which can be a word or phrase) that is RELATED to the main search term, but has far fewer searches but also much less competition.

So, for example, you might write an article about how your Aunty Gwen decided to do some research on "how a middle aged spinster can earn extra money online".

That would be a very "longtail" keyword (not because it has lots of words in it, but because it is an unlikely search phrase). However, if it gets 25 searches a month and yours is the only site that contains that phrase - you get the traffic.

The keywords can be in the title, or in the body of your article. The main point is to have them somewhere. When you start getting traffic, you can experiment with where to put them.

If you are using Wordpress, change your permalinks to display your post/page title and use your keyword as your article title. That helps. But don't get paranoid - just write. That fictitious article about Aunty Gwen would never have had that fictitious keyword as its title! (With apologies to all Aunty Gwen's - I don't have one - and all middle aged spinsters - I am one!)

ok i just did some home work on your site and your back links and this is what i have come up...
you have 819 Total Links from 74 Unique Domains

most of your dofollow links have a very low or no page rank.

also the few high dofollow Page rank links that you have are not relevant to your site (Google does take that into account)

so i guess my two cents is this... your link building efforts are being spent on the wrong kind of backlinks

try to find more relevant places to get your links from.
make sure your links are dofollow

its good to have a mix of nofollow and do follow links as it looks more natural to google but you want more dofollow rather than nofollow.

    hope this helps CHEERS!
