Not to rain on anyone's parade, but these are worthless links and you are just wasting your time.

Worthless, I should say, if you are attempting to obtain quality backlinks. They could possibly help to get a site get indexed, but that is easy enough to do without submitting it there. Beyond that they are not going to help you rank any site.

In general, if you are trying to obtain backlinks for SEO purposes you are not going to find them as simple as just submitting to a script such as this. You must think much bigger. If it was as easy as pushing a button there would not be an entire industry built around the education and implementation of SEO.

PR 0 links can't be all worthless if so many people have been touting things like blog comments and especially forum posts as good techniques. I say the only reason to stay away from linking to your site is in bad neighbourhoods--spammy sites and link farms.

Would these help get a new site indexed faster by google, maybe toss them a little bit of visibility to get them started?

Very True.. however you really have to worry about creating a link associated with link farms. Thats why i stay away from them.. lol Good point though.

Yeah, I did submit one of my smaller sites to it and checked out some of the sites it submitted it to. Mostly website analysis sites like alexa that look up a site's stats. I didn't see any link farms when I went to check them out, but they are not going to do much just by itself. But I was thinking, might be a good way to get a site started off if you have no other way to get it indexed. But..yeah this is just me being a n00b.

thanks that's what i thought too
also maybe i can use this to bump up my web2.0 sites that are linking to my site?

I know about link farms and this doesn't look like that

If they are associated with link farms then "YES" they can hurt you in the fact that Google will probably blacklist your site... Sorry

most of those links will most likely be nofollow.. and unless the list has grown, the original script that I believe this uses never hit anywhere close to 600 plus sites.. I believe it was intended as a tool for quick indexing, not backlink building.

It's easy enough to test. run it against some random site, then sit back and see what happens

As far s hurting your site, doubt that you will get blacklisted for it. If that were the case, what would prevent you from putting your competitors site on it unless there is some method to verify that you are the owner of the site before submitting it to the service. Does Google check for that sort of thing? Not sure.

All that being said, we know Google doesn't like link farms so that's good enough reason for me to stay away. My 2cents.

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. You can't get quality backlinks by trading or buying. If you could, everyone would do it, and everyone would be at the top of the search engine rankings. Google has started looking for people who are buying and trading links, and they don't like it.

Getting quality backlinks takes time and effort. You need good, unique content, and links from relevant sites. It may be a slow process, but the guy with 100 quality backlinks will usually outrank the guy who bought 1,000 garbage backlinks.

Google looks at the backlink frequency.. so if you're getting hundreds of backlinks in a short period of time, that have sprung up out of nowhere (i.e. your site isn't being mentioned on high PR sites), then alarm bells will ring.

that is a good point but it said they don't all get crawlled at once.

I do agree with everyone saying to use it to get indexed faster. This can probably help with that.

With Google only quality backlinks matter..so instead of getting 600 low quality links-get 10 high quality links. That would matter a lot.

I've ran several tests with this and similar submission scripts and found the following:

      1. It does help with indexing a brand new domain but there is a core group of about 20-30 sites that will accomplish this. Megafoo has these core sites available here, MegaFoo ... Webmaster & Domaining tools, and it's a more efficient script from what I've observed.

      2. Many of these links will eventually show up in Yahoo Site Explorer. This doesn't mean that they mean anything to Google though.

      3. Virtually all of these links are nofollow.

      4. Many of the sites are located in China. You will see an increase in useless traffic from Baidu and other Chinese search engines and sites.

      5. Chinese spammers use the domains provided to build spamming lists. They take the domain name and send spam emails to the 'usual suspects' addresses (webmaster@, admin@, etc). This isn't true for all of them but some of them do this.

      6. Running these scripts does not hurt your rankings in the least. You won't be getting 'too many links' by using them.

      7. Running these scripts won't help much beyond indexing a new domain.
