Hi guys,
It might sound stupid but I was wondering what do you veterans suggest that for backlinks through blog commenting, should I just build some links to my main page or can it be helpful for building backlinks to specific pages as well? I hope it makes some sense

If your planing to work on a long term site, I highly recommend backlinking other pages on your site (internal pages). The more traffic you bring in the better. For example one of my sites has a keyword in the domain name and it is ranked #1 for that keyword but a few of my internal pages are also ranked for terms on page 1. For example: sdjaslkdj.com would be ranked on google for sdjaslkdj but sdjaslkdj.com/123 would be ranked for 123 and so on. I would only tackle this if its fairly easy to rank for the term. sdjaslkdj.com/weightloss would have a rough time ranking on page 1 for weight loss but sdjaslkdj.com/weightlosstipsforsanta is worth taking a shot at if the search volume is appropriate and competiton of top 10 isn't rough. I hope this makes sense.

    Ambetious,

The answer is both... when you start your blog you want to find the main KW for which you are going to rank for and build it up from there...

then as you write post on sub categories/KW's you also want to promote those as well.

By doing both you will become an authority for that main kw you are ranking for and will have a top 1st page ranking for MANY KW's you are going after, because it will all work together.

    Hope this helps.

  • Well it depends on your keywords and page content. If your keyword complete content is on the home page I suggest you to use home page. If it is on internal page then I suggest you to do on internal page.

I think if you look for those blogs which have CommentLuv enabled you can 'kill two birds with the one stone'. You enter your main domain and it searches for and provides a link to your last blog post.

However, the one thing to look out for is that I've noticed that some commenters end up getting a link to their last post via feedproxy.google.com - I assume this is blogs that use feedburner although I can't be sure as I don't use it myself. I doubt such a link will do much for your SEO.

I suggest only use the blogs that are relevant to your site so tht you have better link juice from google SERP.

when starting out and your site is still new you need to make your links look natural.
It will not look natural if you do things to quickly and use all the same keywords to link back to your main page. So throw in a few different keywords and deep link to some pages in between your efforts.

Both so that your pages will rank for the keyword you're targetting as well. But I don't have much success with blog comments since most got deleted even if they're relevant. You don't have control. You're in better shape with article marketing or if you have the cash on private blog networks

I don't think it can hurt to link to other internal pages that are targeted to some longer tail keywords. It can only help to drive more traffic to your site if those pages also get ranked well.

I would suggest maybe making blog commenting a daily thing but don't do too many.

One suggestion I did read elsewhere was if you didn't have that many sites with relevant material to post on was to to regularly post to certain blogs but offer real value that the webmaster will appreciate as it complement their site.

Add a bit of information at a time always leaving a little room to add more later. I think that is sound advice.

Yes, blog commenting IMO is still alive and well and can be used for index pages and inner pages. Make sure your blog comments are relative to your topic. Also, if you have the right tools and open up your competitors back door you may be surprised how many Do-Follow blogs you will find. Furthermore, you will also find their foot prints to other backlinking strategies. Remember blog commenting can’t be your only backlink building strategy.
