Alexa Stats & Seo query

I am amuzed by Seo and getting sites ranked , however I have come up with a dilema and confused..

I started a new site 6 weeks ago. I have done basic advertising.. It is an SEO related website.. but the alexa rank is dropping daily and within its 6 weeks from domain creation has dropped to 126k and a PR 1 so google must of been updating pagerank recently..

The problem I have is, I have had very busy wordpress seo blogs and never moved this quick before down the ranks.. so I am confused why this has been moving so fast, could it be the keywords, meta ?

    Hello friend,

    your website is getting lots of referring visits from sites like black hat world and all. But in fact alexa rank is not a big issue - its a crap just with the toolbar. But how do you perform in the SERP is the big game. And your site is online since 30-Nov-2004 and you started working on it from the last six week only?? Are you sure that you are not using any alexa traffic booz craps there? What is your analytics tell?? Have you checked those things?

      Hi there MervikHaums , the site domain was dropped for around 2 years , only been working on the site since I bought the domain 6 weeks ago.. thought I would give it a try, never had a dropped domain before.. it already had around 1000 backlinks, but was old from 2002 to 2004

      Not using any type of boosts, and having problems adding analytics as the source code is ioncubed, so may have to try via some sort of plugin for acurate results

        So what kind of the traffic source checker do you use? But its really good to see that its doing good this way. I checked it with alexa and saw the sudden growth. Take a bit more care, confirming all the traffic source are good enough.

          If you have cpanel, nothing quicker, faster. Just login and view.

          Don't get hung up on traffic for traffic's sake. If you are monetizing
          it, or trying to, that's what you measure by. To get an alexa rank
          of 126k in a short time is proof that you are just tossing traffic at
          it, not target customers or readers. You ant targeted traffic, and
          that is another topic for you to research this forum on how to do.

            yeah, this is very correct. Wisely said Paul.! After all only traffic is not the main factor. You must perform well in SERPs too.

    Alexa rank is not that really important. It doesn't really states your site's real traffic stats. Ranking in Alexa is just based on a visitors who have Alexa Toolbar installed.Well, I have seen that Alexa ranking are not updated frequently and anyone can get the rank from a million under just 200k by the automated free traffic.

      Though its not much important - many people use alexa to know how popular it is. Alexa ranks updates everyday and the toolbar Ranking updates every week. But a good alexa bring nothing to business where a good serp brings real business. Thats true!

    It must count for something, I have bought previous sites, and would not touch if the site is more than 200k, I think people without seo knowledge or how to do domain analysis can be ripped off.

    Just recently looking at sites on ebay saying they have x amount of visitors and making thousands via ecommerce.. yet when you visit the site, the alexa rank is ranging from 5 to 15 mil.. alexa must count for something
