CommentLuv for Backlinks, Blogs, and Traffic

So yesterday, the thread I created was slapped for self promotion, but there was some good discussion going on about CommentLuv, and I thought without promoting anything, I'd get it started again.
I think that CommentLuv as a promotional vehicle for getting backlinks is a great strategy. The backlinks not only give you "link juice" as many CommentLuv sites are also dofollow (not all, but a lot are), but they also get you a nice bit of traffic if you are commenting on a post with a similar theme as the link you are leaving behind.
I also think, for CommentLuv enabled blogs, that it can be a great community builder between blog commenters - one commenter will see a link they are interested in from another commenter, go to their site and comment there, and then your site has created a nice connection between two of your readers. I have noticed a lot of people connecting and venturing to other sites thanks to CommentLuv links, and still coming back because everyone is so interconnected.
As a little testimonial, my recent article got a comment from someone who said:
"You've got me checking out HubPages and Squidoo now; and CommentLuv (what a fantastic plugin!) brought me to this site, and I still haven't left and it has been several hours, haha."
After my reply to her, she returned to say:
"CommentLuv is incredible; it connected me to this site, and through this site, over to ___. It's amazing the great resources out there that fly under the radar until you're lucky enough to stumble onto the right site and find a whole new group of 'must-have bookmarked' places."
I know the biggest complaints is spam in two forms - people spamming your blog because it is CommentLuv enabled, and people posting blog posts that are spam themselves that are CommentLuv enabled. Spam happens, whether your site is dofollow, nofollow, etc., and there are plenty of "sploggers" out there on every platform, so neither can be blamed on CommentLuv.
Anyway, just thought I'd open this up to hear about your experiences with CommentLuv and maybe help some people see the good side of it all!
