Backlinks Help Guide

Hi Guys,

I'm new to WF (hello!), and have noticed quite a bit of discussion about link building, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to share some tips with you regarding this subject.

First, I buy all of my links at wholesale (I'm a link broker; one of the perks), but by and large, most Fortune 500 clients have a link budget for buying links.

Second, the following criteria is what I look for when buying (or obtaining, if they're free of course) or, we should say, obtaining a link:
  • Cache date < 2 weeks old (very important)
  • Page Rank (using links from a multitude of PR)
  • # of inbound links (IBLS) > 1,000 (multiple sites)
  • Hosted on a dedicated IP
  • Spread out my buys over different C-Class IP Blocks
  • Domain Age > 2 Years Old
  • < 100 Outbound Links (OBLS) on home page

    I really wouldn't concern myself about PR. Google blog and Cutts have said they're basically dead.

      Good luck with that. How many sites in your niche with a higher pr are actually going to want to trade links with you? Not very many.

      You get a higher pr by incoming links period. Obviously a higher pr incoming link is worth more but whether it is relevant or not matters not at all.

      Exchanging links will really not do you a lot of good. You need one way incoming links for the best benefit.

        Is there any restriction on building links quickly in a short period? I mean I am wondering Google is checking PR is jumping up so fast or not.
        If so, it is feeling like we gotta control the speed of generating backlinks.
        Then, how many backlinks are good enough to build for a day or week?

          Hi Jin,

          In my experience, 25 IBLS per week is a fair number to avoid a footprint.
