Given the options, which would be the better choice?

For the niche I'm looking at, "nicheproduct.com" (only an example) is taken along with the .org .net etc but

niche-product.com

and

thenicheproduct.com

and

greatnicheproduct.com are all available.

I'm wondering which of the above would be the best choice.

Thanks in advance.

My personal experience is go with the extra word thenicheproduct.com rather than niche-product.com

i have better results with the extra word but be warned make sure you arent up against stiff competition because if the other .com .net and .org exact domain names are taken then you may not rank well.

check to see where those other domains are ranked if they arent on the first 3 pages or if only one is on the first 3 pages then you are in with a chance.

If they are on the first page do some more research and find a different keyword, honestly there are always more niches and keyword phrases.

    hope this helped.

As long as your keyword is anywhere in the domain name, this is good enough. But before you decide on that domain, make sure you have done your keyword research right and that you have good search volume and don't have too much competition.

Thank you very much. I'm still working out the ins and outs of keyword research.

One thing I have been noticing is that for pretty much every niche I've been coming up with, even some more obscure ones, the exact match domain names are taken but instead of actual pages they are just parked. Some since 2000.

Is it pretty fair to assume that if the #1 site is amazon and 1/2 the other sites on the first page are big retail sites like next tag with no similar micro-niche competition, then that niche is worth exploring farther?

Might seem like a silly question but I'm just starting to crack through information overload
