My ranking for some keywords has been increasing/decreasing by more than 20 positions in a single day some days and I haven't been making any significant changes. Is this normal??

It quite normal, especially for new sites that don't have enough backlinks yet to stabilize them. As you get more links, your rankings will stabilize too.

True dat. You will see some bouncing around before you "settle in" to a more static position. What you originally bounced up to first is probably about where you can expect to end up (in most cases), obviously there are too many variables to tell you what will happen for sure.

    It's too normal.

My site was fluctuating between 3 to 9 position on first page of Google after six months of hard work. Out of sudden it disappears into Google black hole for the next six months.

Last month it appears again as position number 2. Just two weeks ago it reach position one and stay there. I am still praying that it will stay there permanently.

I think that means you should start making some changes, like building some strong backlinks to consolidate your position...
