SEO with Own Article Directory?

Hi Guys,

I've been investigating a website that is being used to increase SEO rankings for different sites and was wondering how to go about duplicating its success.

The website in question is all-about.com.au

For example, one of the advertisers on there is btcs.com.au for the keywords 'cleaning chemicals brisbane' and they are ranking no.1 in Google.

When I check Backlinkwatch, they have 2045 backlinks, all from this one domain.

Does anyone know how this works? Should I just setup an article directory or blog and add a heap of spun posts and then add my links in a box on the side?

Your comments would be appreciated.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

Yahoo Explorer shows 2049 backlinks for this website. Maybe this site got backlinks from high quality related pages then it shown number 1 on Google.
