Hi everyone

I'm really struggling with my site at lunchboxdiet.co.uk - i really can't seem to get much traffic and have a site rank of 2 and have been trying all sorts of things.

I have a great product with great media reviews, credibility and more, and am working away at other things like my affiliate progam etc, but just wanted to know what I should be doing.

im not sure what top phrase i should even try on competiting on and the areas i should concentrate on first.

any tips would be greatly apprechiated. i am unable to reply to pms yet, sorry!

My friend, it sounds like you could use some professional SEO help. You have been struggling to rank your site, but you should realize that no one will give you the magic bullet in a forum post. SEO is both complex and simple. It's complex in the sense that there's any number of "tips" and "tweaks" and little things one can do to edge the rankings slowly upward. But if you want to rank fast an reliably, all you need is powerful links. Feel free to Skype me or message me through my site if you would like more info.

Firstly your in the weight loss niche so its always going to be competitive.

Secondly, your site has a title, a video and an opt in form which makes it nothing more than a video squeeze page. You'll find it very difficult to rank with no content.

My opinion, don't use the video squeeze page as your home page if your looking to get solid rankings.

This prety much sums it up... If your trying to rank a squeeze page your wasting alot of time...your site needs more content as google does not like squeeze pages and probably will not rank it no matter what you do.

In order to rank - you may have to settle for a long tailed KW niche. What I would do would find four or five long tailed KW niches - each niche may not get much traffic - but combined, they'll bring in a steady stream of traffic if you are ranked in the top three.

Ahem, hello? The original poster is not picking a niche, he already has a site and is in a market.

Here is the magic bullet in a forum post: just be patient. Yup, if you get too desperate and try to get results super fast believe me you will suffer lots. Just keep on building the links over time, there is no way to rush it, remember you are building your site's foundation in search engines now, you want that to be strong. Because later results will depend on if you got yourself a good start.

If one is too patient one may never get results. It's certainly possible to get great results fast, in some cases within weeks, and often it's possible to get some good results within days. The notion that if you build links "too aggressively" Google will punish for you for it, is an urban legend. External links don't hurt you, it's a clear patter of abuse and manipulation that can do damage. It's a question of the quality of the links and of the profile that they add up to. Many sites go viral and get tremendous amounts of links very quickly without being "penalized". Just don't go for trashy link sources, that could easily damage your Google standing.

Trying to rank a squeeze page can be difficult without enough content to make it relevant to anything. The problem is that adding content can also effect your sales page as often copywriting and seo don't mix.

Your first step should be finding what your target market is searching for and then taking the steps to rank for them. It is hard to give advice on how to improve your site without a clear goal.

You don't have to get all your sign-ups from the homepage. You can create multiple squeeze pages for your different targeted keywords and modify your sales copy accordingly.

The site can be supported by general information to get some traffic from other keywords not suitable to a sales/squeeze page. You can either funnel them to your squeeze page in the content or use a lightbox popup to get the squeeze page in their face when they visit your site.

First step though is the keyword research. You can structure your site once you know what has to go onto it.

You can get a squeeze page ranked as easy as any other page. It is just a matter of how you display the content.

BS, keyword density makes absolutely no difference. You might as well recommend voodoo.
