    My suggestion:

    1. Register for video syndicate service like traffic geyser.
    2. You can use video in 2 ways:
    a) Just like using article, use a long tail keyword in your title and try to rank for that keyword. Build some back links if there are competition.
    b) Create interesting and spread worthy video, this take time to practice and once your video is spreading hot, you will see tons of traffic coming in.
    3. Just create any on topic video, use traffic geyser to send it out through all video sites, get traffic from those video sites. You may need to create more videos to see the traffic.
    4. Combine previous 3 methods.

Last time I looked Traffic Geyser had 50 submission sites but it was very costly. If cost is an issue then please consider using TubeMogul.com because it is free & they have 12 sites that you can submit to, YouTube.com included. Hope this helps.

Follow what kkchoon said, I couldn't have said it better.

I once posted a simple video on Youtube (didn't even use Traffic Geyser).

It got syndicated to 10 different web-sites (related to the subject of the video).

I'm getting traffic and backlinks at the same time.

And Yes, Traffic Geyser is expensive, but worth it, you might also want to check out
      heyspread.com

      Cheers

Back Links from You tube but I think You Tube is no follow and there is no benefot of using it if you want to get a backlinks from it.

But yeah if you video in top than I am sure you will be able to get more and more traffic.

Youtube is definitely no follow but it's great for tons of targeted traffic if you do it right.

...by the way doing it right is having your link out closely match the subject of your video.

The good thing about videos is that they rank quite high in google.

So make sure you 'seo' your video.

How does one get a backlink from their videos? Are they in the video itself (via flash or something) or just in the profile of the user?

You need to put a link to your site in the description of the video...

don't forget the "http://" before the link...

Tubemogul looks awesome, many thanks for sharing that one!

Yeah, youtube videos can definitely rank high in google... some of my nice pages are being outranked by a few... grrr.. plus they get a pic in the google rankings making them xtra visible.

I've used youtube vids to get some traffic, you can place a link in the info to the right of the video... also there are various tactics you can use... create a "placeholder" screenshot with your URL and add 30 secs of this to the end of the video with an offer of something free at the web site. As with many community sites, you have to really offer something to get people to leave the mother ship.

Also, you can include your video as a video response to some other popular videos, I have done this and it can sometimes get your videos a number of views, it can be a bit of tedious work rotating and keeping the vids in the "top 4 responses" though.

Video marketing is only set to grow bigger IMO. I think tutorial videos are the way to go. Big tip - people search for "how to" videos all the time.

I've used Traffic Geyser in the past with some sweet results. But it's indeed pricey, I have to cancel my subscription when I don't do video submissions just as much. Tubemogul looks promising, I'll give it a check..

    Hi,

Video marketing is another area that I know I should be doing, but haven't yet found the time. Though I have done a little research on submission services.

Aside from those already mentioned, I've found videopostrobot.com

This one has a $1 trial then a monthly subscription that's WAY less tham Traffic Geyser, though it probably doesn't submit to as many sites.

Also, I found a downloadable list of free submission services here:

Video Marketing Blog Free List- Submit Your Videos To 36 Video Sharing Sites

(And no, that's not my site)

    I hope this helps,

    Michael

Anyone had any luck with contesting things with Tubemogul? I got my account disabled after my very first (test) video posting - no clue why, even after reading their TOS 3 times and no response from their contact form. Bit disappointing - looks like a great service, but I can't create a new account every time I want to upload a video!
