Stupid blog seo question...

I have a couple of blogs. One hosted on wordpress and one on blogger.com.
Each one has about a hundred posts over the course of 2 years.

If I were to take one of these blogs and move it to the domain of my main website would all that content and keywords and stuff have a significant impact on the SEO for my main site? Is it worth the trouble? Can it even be done? If so how do I go about transfering the content?

I am not so sure, but you can use 301 redirect, should pass your page rank, check this out:

Thats a great idea. They do get a good bit of traffic and have good PR. I din't even consider that.
      Thanks.

But does anyone know if moving all that content to domain my site is on will significantly increase serps or traffic?

I did that... when blogs first came out I played with one, a blogspot one.
At the time my niche was codependency (I'm an incest survivor and have substance abuse on again/ off again) Blog was What you can do about Victim Behavior
then moved it to my doman http://victimbehavior.com

The domain already had content and I was selling an ebook, so I didn't put the blog on the main directory.
    so... it was http://victimbehavior.com/blog

In retrospect I wished I'd thought of a better sub dirctory name that simply /blog but blogs were new and I was kickin the tires.

It was easy to move, just added the ftp user/pass to blogger and the whole thing moved.

Then I had to move it BACK, my Dad died and I fell off the wagon ( Crack Cocaine Addiction Recovery ) and lost the domain name...
smoked up what little money I had and couldn't renew the domain name.

So... I moved the blog back to blogspot.com

    whole thing was pretty painless.

the move sort of acted like a redirect, every thing stayed the same except blogger.com was ftp-ing my posts to my domain as opposed to keeping them on blogspot.com

Now assuming you're using feedburner for the RSS feed, you'll have to redirect the feed in feedburner control panel (haven't done that one, but I see that option in the control panel)

I see where in Wordpress you're supposed to be able to import a blogspot blog to a wordpress blog (I think that's only for WP hosted on your domain) but I've never tried it

But will it make a significant difference to my sites serp, traffic ,pr?

      Is it worth the trouble?

  • Yes I think it's worth the trouble, some times a slight rewording, I do this all the time, build a few blogs, and see which rank the highest, and then move it into the blog that has the best design

Create a blog directory on your main site and dump in files. Then re-index site with search engines and it should add SEO value.

Don't move both at the same time. If they are making you money, be careful to plan this out carefully. What is very likely is you will see a temporary decrease in traffic while the search results get adjusted over the next google update.
