Let's say i have a website in health niche and i want to create category about Liposuction. Now liposuction is certainly a type of surgery, so i could create Liposuction Surgery category. How should i structure my URL structure in this case to make it more SEO friendly?

mydomain.com/liposuction/

OR

mydomain.com/liposuction-surgery/
#categories #silo #specific

I would go for the latter Boris.

Google responds very well to keyword rich domains, both top level and for internal pages.

Liposuction surgery sounds logical from a user standpoint so I would go for that.

You really need to look at the traffic that you will be bringing in. It may even be better to optimise around "liposuction-yourlocation" or something similar.

It's a false dilemma: you can use both! But "liposuction surgery" is much less competitive than "liposuction," so you are likely to have better results in the former. If I had to choose, I'd go with "liposuction surgery."

look at it this way, if the niche was about fruit this is how I would do my silo based on the articles I want post in the categories

      domainname.com/apples/red-apple-article
      domainname.com/apples/green-apple-article

in the above category I can have articles about any type of apple

      domainname.com/bananas/green-banana-article
      domainname.com/bananas/yellow-banana-article
in the above category I can have articles about any type of banana

      if you went with
      mydomain.com/liposuction/liposuction-surgery-article
      mydomain.com/liposuction/liposuction-whatever-article
You can have articles about any type of liposuction

on the other hand, if you go with
      mydomain.com/liposuction-surgery/
all your articles should be about liposuction-surgery because that's what you have named the category, make sense?

have a look at how authority sites structure their silos.
There is some good information here > Silo Website Design

at the end of the day you have to decide how much posting you want to do and how "tight" you want to make the categories

      good luck

    Well explained Lee.

If you are going to sort your site using directories then what Lee said makes sense to the user and keeps your urls nice and clean.

Have a look at some sites that have the Sitelinks in the SERPs and have a look at the way they do their navigation and site structure (urls). This will give you a good idea of what Google looks for in a site with clear user navigation.
