Targeted Banner Ad question

Hey, guys and girls.

I've been noticing something pretty interesting and weird while I've been surfing the web lately.

Over the last 3-4 months I've been noticing that at least 2 of the internet marketers that I follow (I'm on their email list) have been putting banner ads in random websites that I go to that isn't -seemingly- targeted at all. For example, I go to websites that have live streaming sports, and it seems like every time I'm there one of these guys has an ad there. I'll also see their ads in places that have absolutely nothing to do with the niches they are in, mainly random sports sites that I'll go to.

Its just weird to me because these guys talk a lot about getting highly targeted leads, so to see their ads in places like that doesn't make any sense to me, but at the same time I'm on their email list, so maybe it is targeted... but how?

It just doesn't seem like a coincidence to me. Has anyone else seen the same thing or know what I'm talking about?

You know what? That seems like it's exactly like what I've been seeing lately. Thanks, Man! This seems like a really interesting marketing strategy. It makes a lot more sense now how their ads were showing up in those random places... I KNEW they couldn't have been placing ads there like that....

Thanks, Pete. I really appreciate that . I'm going to be following that thread now, since it looks like it was also just recently made. Should be interesting to see the results people are having

It is Remarketing or Retargeting, and is combined with an AdWords account.

It is a brilliant technique used correctly, but can be a deterrent if used in 'stalker' or 'creepy' mode. Top Internet marketers are using it and as usual keeping it quiet Can't blame them really because it really is effective at retargeting that 98% of visitors who look at your site and leave without doing anything.

      Remarketing

It is not a new, new technique but last year Google saw its potential and beta tested it until now everyone with an AdWords account can use it. It really is worth finding out about - yes Google give instructions BUT good as they might be at innovation their explanations leave a lot to be desired.

We put our own remarketing programme into operation and had to find out the 'hard' way how to actually get the product working. And of course it is not as clear cut, because as some of you rightly point out a 'blanket' approach is annoying!

But used wisely, in an effective way it's just a brilliant new innovative technique of marketing online. And yes, you are right, internet marketing will never be the same again, never! But isn't that what is wonderful about the Internet?

Also Google give you the tools to create your own banners, quick and practical. Really worth looking at this technique before everyone is doing it.

Please look at the site and find out about Remarketing quickly.
