The data used to calculate the Alexa ranking is collected by the Alexa toolbar, for those who have it installed.

The toolbar isn't that widely used and therefore the data gathered is only from a relatively tiny portion of internet users. Do you use it? What about anyone you know? Probably not.

So really, the ranking itself serves no real practical purpose, no point, and is - if I may say so without being scoffed at - just about utterly useless.

My advice is don't waste your time monitoring your Alexa ranking, and don't waste time trying to improve it. It won't make a blind bit of difference to anything.

Instead, focus your efforts on increasing your search engine rankings, building up your sites, etc, as this is what will ultimately translate into more visitors, more customers, more cash or whatever your real desired end result is.

when your alexa ranking is that high the alexa is completely useless. Just by having the tool installed on your computer and going there a few times cam make those fluctuations..
