Social bookmarking is great.. but it is not enough. I suggest you diversify and use some other ways to get some more backlinks.

Social bookmarking is great. I m gonna give a cool tip to you, only if you are interested in doing some hard work then this is for you.

Go to yahoo.com make some yahoo accounts around 20. Then create your delicious.com using these delicious ids then bookmark your link with these different delicious accounts and wait for some time u will see that that delicious.com automatically places your links on squidoo lenses this way you will get lot of backlinks from different squidoo lenses and these links which are placed by delicious.com are do follow links.

Google will count those. Actually delicious.com places yous links to squidoo lenses related to your bookmark if your bookmark is no 1 on there website for that keyword and the maker of that squidoo lense has enabled delicious.com links. This way u will make your competitors link back to you without any hardwork.

As I can see your a great fan of George brown. you even tried to outrank him in groomwedding but I just want to ask you. Are you sure inwhat you are doing? Why not submit 1 article weekly on squiddo and other article sites instead?

Please don't take this offensively or in any bad way. Just like to ask because I want to do what you are saying to increase my rankings but for what consequences?

Yes I am george's fan and I really like him and I dont think there is nothing bad in that.

There is nothing wrong In doing what I said. I have personally implemented it and you can see the results my domain is just 1 and a half months old. And its on 13th for my main keyword. All of my competitors have a domain age greater than 6 months or so. My website is newest among all of them.

Dont work hard dude work smart. If just bookmarking with the trick I told U is going to get U more backlinks firstly from squidoo lenses and other people will also bookmark you site seeing that your link is no 1 on delicious for that keyword. And there is nothing wrong with this method and Its not a black hat seo trick.

Dude thats a completely different thing submitting articlee to squidoo is another method of link building and thats a great method.
But what I am talking about is purely a method of bookmarking. I am telling you how to bookmark so that U can get additional backlinks.

Have you open all the 20 yahoo/delicious accounts the same day or split it to few days?

This is effectively Black Hat. It's just probably untraceable, as of today.

No doubt that it is a cool trick though, and let's face it: Most big & reputed companies & SEO players do it all day long.

Do a Google search on "list of high PR social bookmarking sites".
Create accounts with high ranking ones (e.g. mister wong or folkd)
Could even open multiple accounts with them (different user names that is)
add your bookmarks

Even though some of them are nofollow your links do show up nonetheless.

I agree, it is one piece of the puzzle. Some sites are more friendly than others in the way they allow you to use anchor text. Mr Wong is finicky, but I have figured out a way to keep my bookmarks public with anchor text.

I think social bookmarking can help for:

1) Getting your pages getting indexed quickly
2) Getting better search engine rankings

Among other things...

I think the more bookmarks your pages get the more likely they are to be noticed by search engines...

I like the trick that you have used abhijeet but, as you know that if for any domain, bookmarking is already done then it will not accept another bookmarking for the same domain, and in that case, we can use another accounts for adding comments and votes.

I feel this can be beneficial.

I feel this can be beneficial.

Beneficial maybe maybe not there are do's and donts about having multiple identities and submitting to social bookmarking sites. For myself Ill learn and implement techniques to camouflage myself when using multiple identities.

There was a big list of pligg /social bookmarking sites going around a few months ago, approx 500+ sites.
I've been steadily going through the list and only 1 in 5 social bookmarking sites is do follow.

  Well nofollow keeps PR from flowing to other sites. This increases for that site that has the rel=nofollow to increase PR and prevents bleeding PR every where this will increase its chances for rankings and traffic.

Dnt worry bout nofollow a link is a link. if bots know what href is when spidering in the source code then maybe they can determine what the difference is between link and a text link. So no follow means I dnt vote for this link but its still a link.

Perhaps this happened from the bookmarking services. A better explanation for the links is that these site owners came across your site through the bookmarking service and added links to your site from theirs because they liked your content. This is the goal of every website owner on the web, so good job! These links will build more and more over the weeks so keep it up!

yes, I was also considering this question. I'd like an answer from those more experienced.
It seems it would be easy to just create one account on all the different social sites, and bookmark ALL of your websites and pages you create with that one account. Instead of having to create one account for every pen name.

Does this get penalized? Do others out there do this?

Social bookmarking is alright... it will give you backlinks but they don't nearly have as much power as they once held... however I use them more now for getting new content indexed quickly.

In my experience Social Bookmarking has proven to be both an excellent traffic source and backlink source. The trick is to backlink your social bookmark backlinks. It's also important to grab the URL's/RSS Feeds and ping the heck out of them. This forces G to crawl the Bookmark link as well as your website.
