google cache and backlinks?

I have a new site I started a couple of weeks ago
It has been indexed by google but it aint showing in the Search ranks at all

I noticed that its not in google cache yet
When should it appear in it, is there any way to speed it along

Also a couple of backlinks I got on edu and gov sites aren't showing up yet
I got them over the weekend at what point should I start to get worried

    Normally Google indexes sites very slowly,slower than Yahoo.I think your site is not crawled by Google bot yet,please use Google webmaster tools to confirm about it.

    Second thing the links you've got from edu & gov pages yet not crawled by Google,so don't worry it takes time.Those back links might be indexed by Yahoo,so check on Yahoo Explorer for it.

    they havent been crawled by Yahoo yet either

    According to Webmaster Tools my site hasnt been crawled but it is indexed
    coming up with site:domainname.com
