Im trying to help a starting company. If I am trying to get a high organic ranking for lets say "weight loss clinic" would having the anchor text with the company name in front not help me? for example if my anchor text read:

"JANUS Weight Loss Clinic"

would I still rank high for just weight loss clinic if I had enough quality inbound links? or should the anchor text be just "weight loss clinic"

Thanks warriors

the anchor text should be a mixture of your keyword with plenty of varients. I usually aim for about 40% main keyword phrase, the rest varients and related

    weight loss center
    loose weight now
    weight loss studio
    weight loss trainer
    weight loss program
    exercise to loose weight
    loosing weight by working out

    Etc....

If it is your intention to have weight loss clinic then you need to have just that as your anchor text. You can still have the word Janus in front of it just don't use it as part of the anchor.

It's not going to hurt you, but it's not as targeted as it could be. It's a good thing to vary the anchor text. Using the same exact anchor text in every link to points to the site can raise flags to google, but I wouldn't put the company name in there unless they have quite a few people actually searching for their company name and even then they probably already rank for that, so it wouldn't really be needed.

Agreed the thing that I always do is to use the google keyword tool to identify 10 -15 keywords that I try to rank for. I typically then sort them by the highest number of searches to the least. Then take the highest search term and make it around 40% of your anchor text. The second highest 15% etc..

      Example:

      Weight Loss Clininc - 40%
Local Weight Loss Clinic - 20%
Where can I find a weight loss clinic - 15%
Best Weight Loss Clinic - 10%
Do Clinics Help Loose Weight - 10%
Clinic for loosing weight fast - 5%

      Get the drift?

That way your keywords are in porportion to their searchterm!
