Ok, let me give you an exemple:

I wanna rank for word-word. The wordword-com is taken, but the word-word.com and the wordword.net is available. Wich one would you choose?

  I would go with yourdomain.net but it's purely a personal preference over your-domain.com. If it doesn't roll off your tongue like the .com, then go with that.
  
  And it is basically the same discussion as http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...m-net-org.html. You are on the right track though with the exact match domain.

Yes, but the correct word is word-word, with the hyphen.

If the only way you intend to be found is through search engines, my vote would be word-word.com. However, if you do any other type of marketing, lose the hyphen. Trying to explain to someone over the phone that my site is word HYPHEN word dot com, wouldn't be that easy.
