Warriors..

I am looking to dominate my niche on a local bases..

Innitally I was looking at having a high number of mini sites that had a keyword rich domain and that were optimised for that specific keyword..

My main aim is to collect optins and market back end..

I was looking to create a hierachy of sites

ie

Nationwide site
Regional
County
City
Town
Village

These sites would all link to one another providing link juice.. Ultimately the larger regions would get higher rankings??

However after speaking with a freind - he recommended one large site vs many smaller mini sites..

Which is the best option with regards to getting rankings across a range of keywords..

Thanks in advance
Dave

    Many sites:
    -Faster and easier to rank
    -Faster monetization
-Much less stable in the SEs
    -Much more difficult to maintain

    One Site:
    -More Difficult to rank
    -Will take longer for monetization
-Much more stable in the SEs
    -Much easier to maintain

    All about preference.

what he said , getting lots of domains will be diff to maintain as you will have to put a lot of work on each to ensure high quality. You may get away with so so quality but profit will be a lot less.

      • Many sites, for the fact that you could easily have links and surely it will be seen, scattered and and easily be familiarized by people once they see it many times it would help them remind. It would also put you to have a good rank page.

    Hey Simon

    Thanks

Im not concerned with branding in fact it would be better if the sites looked different..

Are there any issues I need to consider with using one hosting company for all the sites?

My freind seemed to think that having all my sites hosted in one place ie owned by me pointing to each other would be disliked by google??

Yes, that is an issue and i have heard about this as well. If you can use multiple hosts is better. You want to have multiple locations so it looks unique

Also, it would be better to get those mini sites going and then get them good after 1-2 months in the SE and then focus on branding...You can to build profit first because branding will always take longer unless you make some CRAZY video and tell everyone on facebook and those video sites and have it optimized for local search results.

But do the mini site method if you are not concerned with branding.

I think that for the long term I would go for one big website.

I am working on both approaches. Why just do one or the other?

I have one 'authority' website being rebuilt at present with CMS. This site will support my main offline consulting work. In addition, have several niche sites for specific products. Will extend main site continuously, and build more niche sites as research finds good products.

Recently decided this based on others' experience here and elsewhere. Can link sites if compatible but otherwise, no need. Niche sites will be AdSense and Amazon products. Same monetization on main site as appropriate for content, plus my own products to create and sell for even bigger profits.

For me, i would say not One site and not a LOT of sites. Maybe 2 or 3, or 5 if you are really talented.

Personally, I prefer one. I couldn't imagine managing many.
