Google Instant and Its Effects on SEO

I believe this will have great impact especially on those who were fighting really hard to get to #1 in search results for some specific keyword. It's time we start rethinking our strategies. Let's see how Instant will evolve further.

Statistics on how traffic is affected is a tad early don't you think? It hasn't even been live for 24 hours yet. Matt Cutts on his blog said he didn't expect a big change. He clearly states, "NO!" when asked if it will kill SEO. Just like any change in google's search methods, it will bring about a change in the SEO world, the good SEO's will adapt and move on.

I feel people are blowing this WAY out of proportion. Remember, as of now, that 1 billion searches / week does NOT mean 1 billion people search on google.com. There is a big group of folks that use the toolbars, address bars, etc to search with google. Instant does not affect these things, as of yet.

I think its a great change and about time, I'm surprised something like this wasn't implemented sooner to be honest.

As for its effects on SEO, I think it may make traffic coming through Long Tail KW cut down a little.

Personally, to me it doesn't look like it will affect SEO at all. I have used it several times in the last 24 hrs. All that has been changed is how the results are displayed. It shows search results for whatever is in the search box in a self refreshing fashion constantly. My guess is that it will help the searcher see instant results based on the instantly present search term. Nothing in the algorithm has seemed to change. It has just sped the delivery of the results. In other words, you just don't have to hit enter. That's all. SEO is still relevant and, apparently, will continue to be.

While trying out the "instant" feature, it seems that Google will still record the long-tail I choose and account for it in the Google keyword search tool results even if I don't actually type it out. It may in fact give me an advantage if I see any changes in keywords that others don't, so I'm trying to understand how this is anything but a positive for SEO. Like all of Google's algo developments, time will tell I guess.
