Redirect not working

Hello everyone,

I am trying to redirect a category on my site to the homepage.

I went to hostgator cpanel and clicked on "redirects". Then i choosed a permanent(301) -> choose my domain-> typed the page that i want to redirect-> and in the filed above i type the homepage.

Then i got a message saying that http://site.com/page was redirected to http://site.com

In the Cpanel it says it is done, but when i got to the site it does not redirect.

Can anyone give any tips why this might be happening. Thanks

    Someone else is free to correct me of course but - isn't the redirect tool for redirecting one domain to another domain, rather than a page within a domain to another page within that same domain?

    To redirect a category within your website to the homepage you need to make the edit within the site - if it is a cms then within the admin back-end you will be able to do this.
