Hi im looking to create my first website to chase after a niche, and have a dabble at SEO. Would be very grateful on some advice on domain extensions.

The keyword phrase I want to target is available as an exact match in .eu, .im, .uk.com, .org.uk,.me.uk, u.k.net.

The markets I want target are UK, USA, Canda and Australia.

What extension would you go for? or none of the above and stick to .com and go for a less keyword oreintated domain.

Thanks

I am a big fan of exact match domains, but my advice would be to go with a .com, especially if you're going to target more than 1 big keyword. For example, by getting a .eu domain, you'll be sacrificing rankings in Canada, Australia and USA for sure. The only somewhat acceptable option out of the ones you mentioned would be .org.uk, but still not even close to what you will have with a .com.

    Cheers,

    Josip

thanks for quick reply Josip. Would you recommend then I go for my exact match domain . word1word2word3randomword.com And add a word to then end. obviouslt not totally random word. but at least keep the string of words but just plus one extra.

That's really up to you. It depends on how long it is, how many words...In your example, that would be 3 + 1 words which is something I try to avoid. With proper backlinking and on-page SEO, you can pull off almost anything.

        Do what feels right.

        Cheers,

        Josip
